BAYOU LABRADORS: Top Quality Chocolate Labrador Retrievers

Congratulations to HRCH Sunnyhill's Sadie Sue for a job well done! Sadie achieved her HRCH title at the Southern Flight HRC in Grenada, Ms on September 21, 2008. Congratulations also goes to Sadie's owner and handler Betty Magee who took her through Started, Seasoned and Finished. Sadie is our second Cajun Roux and Cher offspring to earn their Hunting Retriever Championship title. Sadie was one of 13 puppies born July 15, 2006.

We are very pleased with Sadie, and she has met our expectations. She is very attentive and observant. These traits started early in her life. As we worked with her, she responded and based on that, she was ready to attend the UKC test hunts. She accomplished her SHR title in two weekends. The photo is of Sadie, her ribbons, and her UKC title. As I have stated, she is easy to train, eager to learn, and loving to all. When we talk to her, she will tilt her head and listen intently. With her abilities and loving nature, Sadie will have a great future.

Yvonne,

This is just to update you on Sadie. Wayne and I ran her in the Season Hunt Test in Pineville, La. She passed both tests. She received her HR title at the North La. Hunt Test. She has passed every test that she has entered thus far. She is a lovely and wonderful pet, but she is also all business when it comes to hunting and hunt test. We plan to enter Sadie in the Finished hunt tests this Fall. I have included photos of Sadie at the test site where she earned her HR title.

Yvonne,

I really do not know which is the most AWESOME, the wonderful experience we had with YOU before she was born, the many many pictures and updates given to us before we got her OR could it possibly be receiving the most REGAL, BEAUTIFUL, SWEET puppy in the whole world named "GRACE".

Thank you so much for all of the above!

Yvonne, we couldn't be more delighted with our new puppy. His name is Ben, in honor of his grandfather. Ben is the forth Lab to be raised in our family. We are by no means Lab experts, but our experience has at least taught us what to look for, and this puppy is it. Im amazed at his intelligence and personality to say nothing of his good looks. I think the picture speaks for itself. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have a puppy from the Roux and Cher pairing. Our vet is very complimentary of the pup too.

We would also like to thank you, Yvonne, for your courtesy and professionalism as a breeder. The weekly photos and updates were very special to us. Thank you. We wouldn't hesitate for a second to offer our highest recommendation.

Sincerely,

Hi Yvonne,

Well, we finally got around to sending you a picture of Maggie and the girls. She has quickly become a part of the family. Maggie is really growing in size and intelligence, and as of today as an 8 week old puppy, she weighs 15 lbs and 4 oz. She is highly intelligent and calm. Not only is she already housebroken, she is learning to master the sit and heel commands as well. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a high quality chocolate labrador to get in touch with Yvonne Redell at Bayou Labradors. Yvonne is a very knowledgeable breeder and is intent on keeping her clients happy with their purchase. Her dogs have the conformation and pedigrees necessary to become field trial champions, hunting retreivers, or just excellent companions. We hope to achieve all of the above with Maggie. We are very satisfied with our puppy, and we highly recommend Bayou Labradors.

Thanks,

Hi Yvonne,

I just thought you would like to see how your wonderful puppy is doing.  Maggie is 11&1/2 weeks old today and she weighs 27 pounds.  She is doing fantastic.  I think she would rather retrieve than eat.  She is doing simple double marks and  loves the water.  We are so proud of her & everyone who see's her thinks that she is beautiful.  She will also shake your hand if you like.  She is very intelligent.  She likes to ride the 4 wheeler also.  She keeps all of us entertained while she learns new things everyday.  I am sending you a few pictures of her that we took today.  Hope you enjoy them.

Yvonne,

Here's a picture of Maggie in the snow today. She is off of Sonny & Coco's litter 11/28/07.  She is doing excellent.  She weighs 80 pounds.  She lives to retrieve.  I am very satisfied with Maggie except for her barking early in the morning.  She drives us crazy until we turn her loose. Still, we wouldn't trade her for anything.  She is definitely part of the family.  Thanks for providing us with an exceptionally well bred labrador retreiver.

Here are pictures of our boy Ryder. He has a calm disposition, is very independent - yet affectionate and is socializing well with our 3 1/2 year old female chocolate lab Odgie. He is very intelligent, already housebroken and eager to retrieve and swim. We highly recommend Bayou Labradors, the breeding is obviously excellent. We feel lucky to have one of Roux's great pups. Yvonne has been a pleasure to work with, giving us the exact puppy we wanted in temperament and personality which is priceless we live in Upstate New York and trusted Yvonne to find the right dog for our home and we are more than satisfied.

I have to tell you that my vet went on quite a bit about how beautiful he is and that he showed good breeding and they see a lot of dogs. Also some guy saw him and asked if he could breed him to his female Lab. I was like dude, he is only 10 weeks old, you have to be kidding. I don't think so.

He is a traffic stopper that's for sure. More of his personality is coming out and he is becoming really attached to me yet he is never afraid to be left alone. He is really special.

I am very happy with Abby. When we got home, she got out of the truck and ran around exploring, then I took her back to the ditch we have that goes to the river and she bailed in w/o any second thoughts. I was amazed how she took to the water. I cant thank you enough, I still cant believe this is happening. The whole experience of getting this puppy has been great. You were very considerate, nice and helpful. The puppy is beautiful and I'm sure she will make a good hunting companion and friend. Thanks for everything and I will send you pictures. Thank you so much,

Mrs. Yvonne,

When I was watching Abby this morning bringing back ducks, I figured I needed to send you a Email just to give you a little update. Abby has hunted for about 45 days this year and probably 25 of them have been consecutively. She is doing outstanding. Nearly everybody I take hunting says something about her, either she really pretty or man she does a good job or something along that line. Every morning when I take her out the kennel she knows exactly whats happening she runs to the back of my truck and sits there and waits for me to open the tailgate. She stays pumped up everyday, she's picked up somewhere between 200 and 250 birds so far this years and in my opinion that is outstanding for a first season. I just want to let you know that I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to have her. She's been an excellent dog. If your ever over in my direction let me know so you can come drop by.

Thanks Again,
Josh Berg

These Chocolate Labs are the most beautiful lab pups I've ever seen. I've had the pleasure of owning and purchasing other dogs from breeders and this was a very enjoyable experience. I appreciated the patience with picking out the puppy. It took me two visits to decide which puppy to take home because there were so many quality pups to choose from. (I'm glad I got there early). A great breeder who puts a lot of effort in assuring that she has the best quality labs around. If Gracie grows up to be half the retriever that she is beautiful I think there will be another champion to add to the line."

I am so glad I bought this beautiful Chocolate Labrador. I was looking for a female lab with champion bloodline and I found her. Her name is Deja Marie and she is very spoiled. I would recommend if anyone is looking for a great Labrador look no further than Bayou Labradors.

Yvonne is a highly qualified and experienced breeder of labs. We have been so pleased with our dog Riley. She is extremely healthy, happy, smart and loving to our kids, family and friends. She is energetic and funny to watch as well. She likes to swim in our pool, fetch her toys, and sit on our laps when prompted. She was very easy to train, because she is naturally smart. Do not hesitate to purchase lab puppies from Yvonne. She helped us with information about what Riley would need in her puppy months, and has called us from time to time just to check up on her!!! We've purchased AKC registered dogs in the past, but the breeders never took the time with us as Yvonne has. We are beyond satisfied.

Hi Yvonne,

This is the latest pics of our Riley. She made 3 years old on October 26th. Mary, our daughter and Riley's 11 year old owner is still very much in love with her since she the day she got her! She takes pictures of Riley a few times a week. Riley thinks she's Tyra Banks and loves being a "super model"! She is funny, playful, attentive, and extremely smart. We don't know what we did before getting her. She's our special girl!

Thanks for everything Yvonne!

I was looking for a female Chocolate Labrador when a hunting friend recommended Bayou Labradors and Yvonne Redell. The first time I went to see the litter of puppies, I really didn't know which one I wanted because they were all so beautiful. I paid my deposit on the pick of the litter for a female. I kept noticing one male puppy that was exploring the yard by itself. I liked that he was independent of the others. Too bad it was a male because I was searching for a female. The second time I went to see the puppies I became more attached to the male and the male puppy became attached to me. I really wanted a female. I changed my mind and bought the male puppy and named him Cocoa. He has a beautiful, dark chocolate coat and a gorgeous head. He is very large for his age, he weighs 50 lbs at 4 months old. I can't believe that when I got him at 7 weeks old, he was already housebroken and kennel trained. He has a great disposition and is very smart and obedient.

I am disabled in a wheelchair and he will be my companion for many years to come. I was so excited about my male puppy, that went back to Bayou Labradors and bought a female from their next litter. I named her Momme Subella. I go to the St. Bernard Veterinary Clinic, they say that my 2 puppies are the highest quality Labradors they have seen in many years. Buying my puppies from Bayou Labradors is the best thing I ever did.

So many times in life we make decisions and then wonder...."now why did I do that?" After spending a week with my new lab puppy, Scarlett, I know exactly why! Because the love and tenderness that this beautiful animal brings to our house is joyously overwhelming. She is so smart and so sweet...one can only wonder how a pillar of beauty can exist in such troubled times. This is not only a testament to Scarlett but also to her breeder, Yvonne. I have never been inclined to purchase a dog until one day when a little chocolate puppy came into our lives. He was homeless. We took him in and named him Bruno. He was so wonderful that I immediately thought about getting a second. I started looking on the Internet and lucky for me, I found Yvonne. This would be my first experience actually picking out a pup and paying for it, so I was optimistically cautious. But after I first spoke to Yvonne on the phone I knew immediately that I was speaking to a woman that loves her animals far more than money. I knew there and then that I would be making the 5 hour trek over the weekend to pick up my pup. My daughters and I were greeted graciously. Having a clue about my inexperience with champion dogs, Yvonne spent a good part of her afternoon sharing stories and practical experience tips that helped greatly. She was very organized, detailed and thorough. She had uncommon patience with both me and my children. Scarlett is only 9 weeks old and practically house trained and kennel trained. She is a work of art! Already, truly a champion at her tender age. We will be life long buddies! If you are considering a chocolate lab pup...please do not hesitate to call Yvonne....you will never ask yourself..."now why did I do that?"

Hi Yvonne

I couldn't be happier with my two labs, Scarlett and Kit. Caught them napping in the the sun in the front window of my store...they heard the camera click and looked!! KIT (in the front) is now 8 months old and Scarlett (behind, with her head on KIT) is 2 1/2 years old. They are sisters, both Cher/Roux pups from different litters (7/15/06 and 5/22/08) They are such awesome wonderful gorgeous playful pets. Each has a very precious distinct personality. Kit is all puppy. Loves attention, loves to play and give lots of kisses. Scarlett is very polite, reserved and loves to snuggle. They are both great athletes. They love the deep snow of this New England Winter.I will send another picture soon of them in their winter wonderland. I am very happy with my perfect pups! Obviously one was so great, I had to get another. And I wouldn't buy from anyone other than Yvonne. She adores her dogs and it shows!

Beaux is a gorgeous and well-mannered lab puppy. We truly enjoy having him as part of our family. He is a great family pet as well as enthusiastic hunter. At four months of age he is already mastered obedience skills and is a quick learner. The best part about Beaux is that he is a joy to have in the house. He is so well behaved and not a day goes by he doesn't make us laugh. I credit Yvonne for putting so much time and effort into her pups, her dedication is why we have such a terrific dog now. We would not hesitate on purchasing another puppy from this outstanding breeder. She goes the extra mile to make sure the right puppy goes to the right family and in our case, she hit the nail on the head-Beaux is everything we were looking for in a puppy

Here are a few picks of Gunner at 8 months old. He is one of the best labs I have ever owned. He trained very easy compared to some that I have had. He picked up his first bird at 4 1/2 months old and just keeps getting better. He has also retrieved four doubles. To date he has retrieved 267 birds. AWESOME is all I can say for him at under a year old. Also Gunner gets complimented a lot about how pretty and well mannered he is. It was a pleasure doing business with you and will tell others about the quality of your dogs.

Thanks,

Congratulations to HRCH Roux's Hot Shot Harley for a job well done! Harley achieved his Hunting Retriever Champion title on August 31 at the Music City HRC in Smyrna, TN. Congratulations also goes out to Harley's owner, trainer and handler Jeff Mann from Atlanta, Georgia.

Harley is our first Cajun Roux X Cher offspring to earn their HRCH title.

Thank you Jeff and Harley, we are so proud,

Hey Yvonne,
Things are going well with Harley. He started with a pro trainer about 2 weeks ago. He was already doing well with obedience and retrieving before I took him there. I'm working very closely with the trainer, our plans are to start him in AKC and UKC hunt test in March. When the Grand Hunt Test was in Georgia in the fall, I drove down and met Ronnie, Connie, Bill Autrey and of course Roux. Here is a picture of Ronnie, Roux, Harley and myself. In the Spring when he gets his first ribbon, I will send you a picture.

This puppy was given to me as a graduation gift. We are extremely pleased with our new addition to the house. Coco is a wonderful puppy and we think that she will grow up to be even better. Coco has a fun and loving personality and she fits perfectly in our lives. Yvonne was a great person to deal with because she truly cares for the puppies. She helped us with everything we needed to know to help this lab succeed in the future. She kept us informed about the puppies frequently and we would have no problems buying another dog from her. We can't thank her enough for her help.

Thank you,

Things are going well with Sugar. She has been a great addition to our family.

She is very smart, playful and has a great personality. It is easy to see that she has a very good genetic makeup.

Sugar absolutely loves our 5yr old son Peyton, when ever she sees him the party is on. Sugar also love our 6 month old son Sawyer, she just licks his face as he laughs.

When she is not playing with the kids, she can always be found by or in the pool. She loves to swim!

We have started some light obedience with her and she already comprehends the commands sit & stay. Sugar also shows a strong interest in retrieving; I can not wait until she gets a little older.

Yvonne was great to deal with and you can really see how much she cares for these puppies.

The next time I or someone I know is looking for a top quality Chocolate Labrador; I will send them to Bayou Labradors and Yvonne.

Thank you,

Here is a picture of Sugar from November. She is currently at a trainer and is doing remarkably well. She has only been there 9 weeks and he is already introducing her to hand signals. I will be making my first hunt with her this weekend, I can not tell you how excited I am for that. My plan is to leave her with the trainer thru May and she willbe fully trained and ready for next hunting season. Of course we miss not having her at home, but we look forward to many great years with her at home and in the field. I will send you more pictures from our hunt thisweekend next week.

I am beyond impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness of Yvonne Redell of Bayou Labradors. From the first time I contacted Yvonne about possibly obtaining a chocolate Labrador from her she was enthusiastic and very helpful. She kept me informed with updates of my pup's mother, Lucy Marie's, health even before my puppy was born. I received a congratulations phone call and pictures when my puppy was born. After that I received e-mails showing me what milestones my pup had reached (the swimming lessons were my favorite). Now about my Lab, Lillian The Brave. She is alert, intelligent, fearless, gentle, affectionate and beautiful. My vet was so impressed with her during our first visit she showered her with compliments. She said, "What an excellent coat she has and such a sound body for being so young (8 weeks)! Oh she is gorgeous. I'm amazed by how alert she is. She has such a calm temperament. She is a quality Labrador!" I was bursting with pride. We get the same reaction from everyone who meets Lilly. I can tell you that having her brings my family such happiness. Lilly is playful yet gentle and active yet very obedient. Yvonne Redell has made it possible for my family to have the right dog for us and made it a pleasant and smooth transition for us all. I would highly recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone looking for quality and beauty in a chocolate Labrador.

Yvonne,

We wanted to write to let you know how wonderful our lives have been with our new addition, Tully. Your weekly pictures and emails were so helpful as we waited for our puppy. Every week we grew more and more excited and couldn't wait to bring him home. Though flying him home was an option, the 10 hour drive from Florida was more than worth it to be able to bring Tully home with us. He was a perfect angel the whole trip back, sleeping often and never having an accident in the car.

It didn't take very long at all to housebreak him, which people still cannot believe. I attribute part of that to your early use of a kennel, which made the transition home into his kennel here relatively seamless. He knew early on how to signal us and let us know when he needed something. He learned sit and lay down commands very easily and is eager to learn more. Our vet complimented us on a beautiful pup and said that he believe the breeder did a great job in getting us a well bred, physically and emotionally sound puppy. We couldn't agree more. He is a lover of all humans and other dogs alike. He's a beautiful puppy who gets more and more handsome every day. We look forward to our lives with him.

Thank you so much for your professionalism throughout the process. You have given us such a wonderful puppy who will undoubtedly make us happy for a very long time. We have already recommended you to a family member looking for a chocolate lab and will recommend you again.

After writing this letter to you it seemed a little long but we just can't help bragging about you and our boy.

Sincerely,

Hey Yvonne,

I just wanted to send you and email and say Happy 1st Birthday to Coco and Sonny's Puppies from 11/28/07!!! Tully is a handsome 1 year old. We had our friend come over with her nice camera and take some pics of our gorgeous boy. We figured we'd send you a few so you can see how well he's growing up and post an updated picture if you like. He makes us so happy and everyone at Thanksgiving said what a pleasure he was to be around :) He loves to play frisbee, to go on runs and to the park.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Let us know if you get any updated pics of any of his litter mates.

Talk to ya later ~ Crystal

Yvonne -- Our new puppy "Kona" is awesome. Her fine breeding shows in her looks and smarts. It has been just over one week since we took her home. In that time she is already house trained, kennel trained, and can sit, come, stay. She will also retrieve already which is amazing. Her personality is perfect. She loves to play but when she is not playing, she is as calm as she can be. My kids can't get enough of her and she is already part of the family.

I want to thank you again for everything. You were great. We have been singing your praises. You are obviously top notch and it showed from the first time we spoke.

Yvonne,

Kona is doing great. She is a beautiful dog with a perfect temperment. Very calm around the house but a machine when it's time to retrieve. She is 10 months old and has picked up 40+ ducks in the first five hunts of the season. This includes several blinds well over 200 yards.

Kona is one of the best things to come into my life. She is so much fun and full of energy all of the time. We have always had Labs but Kona is by far the smartest one we have ever had. When I first got her she was potty trained. She got along great with my other dogs. I even have a rabbit that runs the house and they were best friends from the start. I have received numerous compliments from people on how gorgeous she is and how well behaved she is. I always recommend Bayou Labradors, you were great from the start. The website was very helpful because I could look at the puppies from the time they were born up until when I got Kona. You were very helpful throughout the whole process and always answered my questions. I loved the fact that you wanted to know who was buying one of your babies and to make sure they went to a good home.

Here are a few pictures of Max. He's working well, fetching and retrieving in the yard already. He is sitting and working on stay and never did poop in the house! Yvonne,

We all enjoyed our visit with you today, the boys were amazed they didn't stop talking about you and all the pups. Bryce decided to name the puppy Sadie Belle after her mother Belle. She earned an "A" on her trip home. We had to stop in Kenner to let Bryce's nanny see our new addition.........she was amazed how beautiful she is! Sadie slept until we got into Eunice when she had to meet the rest of the humans in her life. Our golden, Cody, is so excited with her in the house also. She curled up next to him and fell fast asleep. Needless to say she is a big hit over here and we love her. Thank you for making our experience so easy and for making us a part of everything. Now it will be our turn to send updated pictures for you to see. Bryce was asking if we would ever talk to you again, I promised him we will make it a point to keep in touch. Some people sell animals for the money only, you are a special person that has her heart into her work.

Thanks a Million for everything!

Yvonne,

This is our daughter Cresson with Scout at 4 months old. She is the best dog we have ever owned! Every time we take her out to the park people comment on what a beautiful, well-mannered puppy she is. She has already mastered heel, sit and stay. She is so easy-going that she gets along well with our other two dogs, despite THEIR very different temperaments. My husband, Mark, is looking forward to taking her hunting this fall. I promise to be better about keeping in touch and will definitely send photos when she goes on her first hunt.

Hello Yvonne

This is the puppy out of Roux and Cher that I bought from you. At 3 1/2 months of age I ran him in Southern Flight Hunting Retriever started test on September 20 and 21, 2008 in Mississippi. He passed both days. There were three dogs in his flight ranging from 1-1/2 to 2 years old that didn't pass the test. The people there couldn't believe that at his young age performed like an older dog.

This weekend, October 25 and 26 I ran him in the Cajun Hunting Retriever hunt test. He passed the tests both days achieving his SHR (Started Hunting Retriever) title at the age of 5 months. Several of the trainers questioned his bloodline and one said "you've got a one-in-a-million dog".

I'm really enjoying this dog, he's so intelligent that he basically trains himself. I will keep you informed of his future progress.

Dear Yvonne,

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us throughout the puppy process. From start to finish, we've appreciated your ongoing attentiveness, compassion, and dedication to the care of the pups and finding good homes for them. It is truly your c`g! We've been so impressed by your commitment, and thank you for always being there to answer our questions. I know your group of dogs and pups are special because of you and your loving and knowledgeable care.

We can't say enough about our new pup Sierra. We are amazed by her intelligence, and everyone comments on what a beauty she is. She's already a great swimmer, too. We are so looking forward to watching her grow up.

We'll definitely keep in touch. It's been great fun getting to know you and Bayou Labradors -- You run a very special organization, one that we would recommend to anyone. We feel very fortunate to have found you.

All the best,

Hi Yvonne,

Fun to hear from you on Facebook. Sierra is doing great (besides the removal of the foxtail from her nose yesterday.) She definitely has a spirit for adventure! We love her to pieces.

I am attaching a recent photo of her at Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada. For fun I'm attaching a family photo too. We have a 9 week old baby and Sierra is loving our new family member. She is so protective and sweet with the baby.

Hope you're doing well too.

I can't begin to explain the happiness and satisfaction I have gotten from my experience and dealings with Yvonne. The amount of care and attention to detail she puts forth with each person and each pup amazes me. If I had to go back and play the waiting game all over again I would! In two days he was in the local bayou making double blind retrieves! Strong, Intelligent and Sound are the best three words to describe Yvonne's dogs. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Thanks again!

P.S. We call him PRIME

Dear Yvonne,

I can't say enough good things about you and my experience with Bayou Labradors. I've never experienced a puppy so smart, birdy, and well behaved at only 11 weeks. She's a retrieving machine after only two days. The vet was amazed how good she was for her first check up saying she was 1 in a 100 as far as lab puppies go. Thanks for everything! My family and I can't thank you enough for "Cajun Roux's Pretty Remi". We'll be sending pictures of her and all her ducks she brings in for me.

P.S. I'll be sending everyone I know your way for lab puppies.

Sincerely,

Hey Mrs. Yvonne,

Just wanted to say that we are very pleased with our puppy. I went back and forth on several names and none seemed to fit. My wife and I were looking at him one afternoon and we decided he definitely looked like a "SONNY" (hope you don't mind). He is and has been an EXTREMELY intelligent, obedient, and gentle puppy. I started training him pretty early with the Water Dog book and he's doing well. It's almost like he just knows what to do....good genetics I guess. I think he'll make a really good dog & hunting buddy. My 22 month old son, William, really likes him and is usually standing by the door when I get home in the afternoon waiting to go outside to feed him. I have had a lot of people (especially my Vet) tell me that Sonny is one of the best looking Chocolate Labs they've ever seen. So far, he's not been sick and seems to be healthy. I'll send you some recent pictures of him soon. If anyone wants a reference you can give them my email.

Thanks,

Yvonne,

We want to thank you very much for our puppy Samson. He has been such a delight. Everyone commented on what a cute face he has. At his vet visit today he weighs 9 lbs. 15oz. All the nurses fell in love with him, the doctor commented on what great bone structure he has. He has been such a delight to our family. And we are very fortunate to have met such a wonderful breeder.

Yvonne,

Words cannot express what "Haze" has brought back into our lives. After losing "Kane" in December it was definitely time for us to have another dog in our home. You couldn't have made the process any easier, from the initial meeting to actually picking up Haze. She has been such a joy and we can't wait to keep you posted on all her journeys in the future. Thanks again for such a great experience!!!!

Yvonne,

I keep meaning to send another picture, but I can't get Lucas to stand still long enough to take one. He does so many comical things, and strikes so many handsome poses, but by the time I get the camera focused it is too late. He is already bigger than our female Sophie and is still growing. He looks very much like Roux.

Lucas has brought a lot of fun to our lives. He gets along terrific with Sophie but he is now larger than she, so I need to keep an eye out that he does not get too rough with her. He is quite a handful; I left him in the car for ONE minute while I went inside the Post Office to put something in the drop box--no waiting in line--just in and out. He put the window down with the electronic button and was out in parking lot!! So, he is under close watch.

Although my stories are about the trials and tribulations, we could not think of not having him in our family. He has such a sweet temperament. He is very affectionate and loves to be in physical contact when you are sitting or lying down. He is friendly to all dogs and all people (little and big). He has no thought that anything bad exists in the world and is completely trusting. Sometimes when I go into the garage Lucas will follow me--unbeknownst to me. A little while later we will miss him and in a panic Mike will say, "Where's Lucas?" And there he is--sitting quietly and patiently in the garage, in the dark, waiting for someone to open the door! We love him dearly. Thanks for such a great dog.

Thanks,

Yvonne,

Just wanted to update you on Luke. He is 7 months old now, and just like a member of the family. Like my other kids, he loves to ride the 4-wheeler. He is already up to 60 pounds. The girls at the Vet. love him, he knows how to wow the ladies. He will go to be trained starting this month. The trainer did not want him he was 7months old.

Thanks for making this experience as wonderful as possible. It was a pleasure dealing with you and Bayou Labradors. You had me waiting for the next update while we were waiting for Luke. I have told a lot of people about you and the way you do business.

Once again thanks for everything.

Dear Yvonne,

It's hard to find the words to express how happy we are with our experience with you and our new puppy "Dutch". After months of searching for the right breeder, we knew from the very first time speaking with you, that you were the one.You really seemed to care about your dogs and matching them with the right owners.

After meeting with you and we had a chance to see "Chopper" it has been non-stop excitement and anticipation. You kept us informed throughout the entire process. From picking out the sire and dam, updates on Coco's pregnancy, trainers, dog food, you name it! You always promptly returned our calls and emails and made us feel that we were important.

Our family looked foward to the pictures of the puppies that you would send us every few days. The usual morning "Whats for breakfast mom?" was replaced with "Did you get any new puppy pictures?" You truly made this a memorable "family" experience.

Our puppy "Dutch" has been amazing from day one. He sleeps all night, he was kennel and potty trained when we picked him up from you. He has learned to sit, come, stay. He loves the water and shows a huge interest in retrieving. "Dutch" will be going to a professional trainer at six months. We will keep you informed of his progress in the "Hunt Test" world. We only hope that he will do as well as 'Chopper" has done in his early years.

Thank you again, we will recommend Bayou Labradors to everyone.

Yvonne,

Here is a picture of Izzy and my friend's black lab. My friends love my Izzy girl that I got from you. She is so smart it is scary. You can show her something one time and she got it. I have some more pics that I will send you. She had a blast this year on her first hunts and picked up so many birds. She is awesome and I would not take any amount of money for her. She is just like one of my kids now. It is so cute the way she listens to my 3 year old son. All my friends laugh because he will call her over, tell her to heal and she gets by his side. He then will throw out the dummy and she is just shaking to go and he will say her name and she is gone like a rocket and then will bring it back to him in the heal position and give him the dummy. They cant get over the fact that she listens so well to everyone and not just to me. She is by far the best dog and the smartest I have ever had and I have had other labs and even Chesapeakes.

Thanks,

Hi Yvonne,

This is Ace from Sonny and Lucy's January 2009 litter. Ace has become a great addition to the family and is a joy to have around the house. This is my first male lab to own and I am surprised by his calm temperament, yet when I break out the bumper he gets all fired up ready to fetch. I have received several compliments about his looks and personality. It was a great experience working with you from the day the puppies were born until the day we brought him home. I was always well informed and knew without a doubt what I was getting, the weekly updated pictures were always exciting. I would say to anyone that if they want a well bred, good looking dog than look no further than Bayou Labradors.

Thanks,

Yvonne,

Nitreaux is a great puppy! He's very smart with an excellent disposition. He's already retrieving for us and loves to play with our 2 year-old Cocker Spaniel. Carson would check the e-mail every day for news about the litter. The vet raved about him when we took him for his check up. We even posted your contact information on their bulletin board for others searching for chocolate Labs. We would recommend anyone looking for a Lab puppy to check with Bayou Labradors before looking anywhere else. If we had larger kennel we would buy another puppy to keep Nitreaux company. Thanks for being so nice to our son. It was truly a wonderful experience getting our puppy from you. He's really a great addition to our family!

MageeHey Mrs. Yvonne,

Sorry it's taken so long to update you on Belle but I wanted to send you a picture and tell you how GREAT of a puppy we have. She is growing so fast. She was house broke believe or not by the end of the first month we had her. She is retrieveing and of course getting into everything as though a puppy should. She knows her commands and listen very well though easily distracted, which we are working on. She started off very quickly exploring the pond and trying to catch minnows, now I can't keep her out of the pond. We've recently started going to our camp in Ticfaw and she is loving the river. She is so good with my daughter for such a young puppy and actually listens to Chloe when she gives her commands, WOW! She is very smart and quite the addition to our family since we lost Jasmine. Thanks so much for a blessed dog. We'll keep in touch.

Dear Yvonne,

We want to thank you very much for our puppy, Ruby. As a veterinarian, I have had several experiences with breeders and I have to say by far you are the best! You are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. We were pleased with our experience from start to finish. I would recommend anyone looking for a top quality and healthy Chocolate Labrador to Yvonne and Bayou Labradors.

Ruby is sweet, beautiful, eager to swim and retrieve, and full of personality. I do have to say, however, she can be naughty at times but we love her! We look forward to breeding Ruby with your handsome boy Chopper in the future. Here are some pictures of Ruby.

We can't thank you enough for the incredible experience you gave us from before Kahlua was born until the day we brought her home. All of the pictures, e-mails and puppy visits are priceless to us. She is an absolutely beautiful, healthy, fun pup! WE LOVE HER!! The care you provided to your puppies is like nothing I have ever seen before in a breeder. As my girls say, "Miss Yvonne Rocks!"

Yvonne,

This picture was taken on Saturday, May 23, 2009. This is Bailey (F4 - Chopper and Belle's litter March 2009). She had her 8 weeks shot today and she weighs 12 lbs. 3 oz. She is beautiful and is adjusting to her two new sisters (also chocolate labs) Gracie and Maggie. They have had their moments but I'm pleased at how well they are getting along. Our veterinary Dr. Jimmy Maxwell was quite impressed with Bailey and also her breeder. I gave him the package that you had given to us (pedigree, etc.) and he was impressed with the information you had provided us. Bailey is very intelligent and eager to please. She already knows the command "sit" and when she is ready to eat, she runs to the kitchen pantry and sits patiently until you feed her. Joe and I waited a very long time to get a puppy from Bayou Labradors and it was worth the wait.

Thanks again for all your help.

Hey Ms. Yvonne,

As you can see, we had a first birthday party for Dixie (with cake, of course!)
She is such a wonderful addition to our family. We sent her to a trainer for a couple of months but couldn't stand to be without her, so we had to bring her home.  She's doing great and Matthew works with her daily so she'll be ready for duck season next year.

Thanks again for such a wonderful dog!

Yvonne,

Tristan, Abby and I were so happy to get our puppy Sienna from you.  Your knowledge and love for your dogs convinced me we were getting our puppy from the right breeder.  I also talked to a friend that got a puppy from you, and he echoed my thoughts. She had her first vet visit with me on Tuesday, and everything went well. She did have yeast in her ears so she gave us some drops for that.  The Dr. said it was most likely from swimming.

I will keep in touch and let you know how she progresses.

Hi Yvonne,

Olive is doing great. She is settling in well and quickly learning the ropes. She loves to play, eat and sleep. Her favorite toy is a stuffed bunny that she stalks and then attacks, its so funny to watch. She has also started chasing toys and bringing them back to us! She loves to play with Finn and very much enjoys sleeping under our ottoman. We love her so much, she was well worth the wait. Will keep you posted on all of her progress. Thank you for all of your photos and support and for letting us visit on Saturdays, we were always up to date on the puppies and believe me it was well appreciated. Please send us Chopper updates as he progresses on his titles.

Hope all is well with you. We went to Orange Beach last week and brought the dogs. Olive loved the beach and was digging in the sand, plus tried to eat some, but I guess it didn't taste very good, lol.

Happy Labor Day!

Hi Yvonne,

I have been meaning to send you a new photo of Olive so I took one with my phone. It's not the best quality but you can still see how cute she is. When she went to the vet for a checkup and shots last month she did great and acted like everyone was there to see her! She weighs 84 lbs and is perfect, she has been swimming quite a bit and is so well behaved. She and Finn, our Great Dane, are best friends :) Hope you are well.

Hi Yvonne,

Here are a few pictures of Bayou's Bailey Belle. Bailey is a healthy happy puppy that is very intelligent. Training her has been fun as she is very attentive, picks up on things quickly and already knows sit and stay. She is eager to please, loves to retrieve and the only thing she gets more excited about is eating. Bailey is very personable and loves attention. She is also very spoiled. She is my first lab and so far is everything I was looking for. I am sure she will be a great friend and hunting companion for years to come. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done, from the first time we spoke on the phone, to the updates on Belle's progress and of course all of the pictures and updates after the puppies were born. I really appreciate all the time you and Steve took to talk with me and answer my questions. I also appreciate that you have called several times to check on her. She has made a smooth transition into her new home and I think a lot of that has to do with the extra care and attention that you put into your puppies. It is obvious that you really care about your dogs and I would not hesitate to recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone.

Yvonne,

We have had Bleu for two weeks now; he is doing great and is spoiled. He is just about completely housebroken and is growing very fast. He weighed over 16 lbs at 9 weeks. Bleu is very active and gets into everything like a lab puppy should. Bleu loves to eat, dig, chew and retrieve. He is very intelligent and is taking to his training very well. Bleu is responding to his name, sit, stay and NO BLEU. He loves the water and Sherri's flower beds, we have a pool and it is hard to keep him out of it. Everyone that has seen him is very impressed with his looks and his drive at such a young age. Thanks again for all the emails, pictures and phone calls that kept me and my family updated on his progress. I was in a unique situation since Bleu was the only male from the Sonny & Emily litter. I knew from day one that B1 was my puppy and we all became very attached to Bleu before he ever made it home. I will keep you posted on his progress.

It was a pleasure working with you and it is very obvious how much you care about your dogs. If anyone is looking for a Chocolate Labrador puppy then Bayou Labradors is the place.

Yvonne,

What more can I say? We have truly fallen in love with "Dixie". She has such a great personality! She is growing so quickly. We have made the utility room "her room". She goes in there at bedtime, the door is closed and she does not make a peep until we open the door in the morning. She has also fallen in love with my daughter's Guinea Pigs. She sits by their cage and waits patiently for one to escape. She should be a great hunting dog! We have taught her to fetch and to sit! She is absolutely beautiful! From the moment I first spoke to you, I knew we were going to end up with a great dog! We were not planning on getting a puppy for another few months but when a friend of mine (who has gotten 2 puppies from you) sent me the email about the litter, we jumped on the opportunity. We were able to kept it a secret from the kids until we drove up in your driveway. They were so excited! We had a great time getting to know all of the dogs you have. It was so exciting to get all of the email updates and could not wait for the next one to arrive. You were so informative and always quick to respond. Your knowledge and love for the labs is very evident. We have had several people ask where we got her and have forwarded your website on to them.

Thank you so much for everything! I will continue to send pictures and updates!

Mrs. Yvonne

What a great experience I had with Bayou Labradors. You made me feel completely comfortable and kept me up to date with plenty of pictures. Maddie has been a great addition to my life and I am so glad I chose Bayou Labradors. It has been one week since I picked her up and I will try to give you a brief run down on her accomplishments so far:

--picked her up last Saturday the 22nd
--that night she went in to the pond for a swim (on her own, I was not trying to get her in) and came out when I called her
--Monday was a clean vet check and started working on kennel training (she doesn't like it at all)
--Tuesday she was already sitting on command
--Wednesday she started working on the leash/lead
--Thursday was refresh/reminder day of sitting, leash and kennel training (still doesn't like being in there)
--Friday she was obeying commands on the leash and had no problems with it at all
--Saturday played on the 4-wheeler and introduced to different noises

I have had a wonderful time with Maddie and have not pressured her into doing anything. All of her learning has been about 10 minutes or so each time. I teach her at her pace right now since she does have a lot of play in her.

I will send more pictures later.

Thanks again Mrs. Yvonne and Bayou Labradors.

Yvonne,

Miley is doing great! She is already retrieving and sitting on command at only 7.5 weeks. You really do a fantastic job at Bayou Labradors. Miley was kennel trained when I got her! She only cried for a little bit the very first night we brought her home. She is a very smart dog and loves people and kids. She is a very sweet dog. Dogs I have purchased from other breeders just don't compare. I can't wait to get her on some ducks next year! I will keep you posted with some pictures in the near future. Once again thank you for all the updates you provided along the way and the pictures! The entire experience was great from the updates to all the paperwork you provided upon picking up my puppy. I had to wait a long time to finally get Miley but it was well worth the wait. Don't be surprised if I am calling you again within the next year or two to get on a list for another puppy. If you ever need a reference please feel free to pass my email information on. I would be happy to recommend your kennel to anyone!!

Take care and I'll stay in touch.

Yvonne-

I wanted to take a minute to say thanks and to update you on our new puppy, "Primeaux Cajun Roux". He is a little over 8 weeks old now and his intelligence is absolutely astounding. He is birdie as hell, will bring back anything you throw for him, and can mark out to about 10 yards now. It took less than two days to teach him sit, stay, and come by voice command. In 5 days, I had him sitting on one whistle blast instead of the voice command "sit".

We are now working on "come" by whistle instead of voice. He had only been with us for 4 days before I introduced him to gunfire by having my neighbor shoot a .22 blank at his house and gradually work his way over to my house while Roux was outside eating his chow. By the time he had finished eating, my neighbor was in my back yard shooting. The puppy never flinched or so much as raised his head. Your practice of raising your puppies underneath the TV with the Outdoor Channel playing has tremendous merit. He is just about housebroken, sleeps in his crate quietly 4-5 hours at a time, and stares into your eyes with confidence. All of this and he isn't even 9 weeks old yet. I know it sounds like I am bragging about our new hunting dog but I really think the credit belongs to you and your operation. Your dogs are special because you are a special "dog person". I was referred to Bayou Labradors by a serious duck hunting friend of mine who hunted over two of your young dogs last season. He had nothing but praise about the way they handled in the field and their calm disposition out of the field. I owe him a big thanks as he encouraged me to take a look at your website.

Thanks again for the constant photos, emails, and phone calls we received from you as our new puppy came into this world. You are a true professional and we sure appreciate everything you have done for us.

Yvonne-

Hi there. Thought I would give you an update on my puppy, Roux. He was 14 weeks old on Saturday and has shotguns shot over him while training for the past two weekends so I decided to take him out dove hunting on Sunday morning.

While at heel, we were walking to a stock tank on our farm when two white wings got up off the ground and lit in a tree 25 yards from us. Needing to make sure we got the retrieve opportunity, I shot one out of the tree and the other when it flew out of the tree. They landed about 15 yards apart. Roux stayed at heel for both shots and waited to be released which was awesome, but it gets better.....

When released he ran over to the furthest bird (which was the second one shot), picked it up, glanced at the closet bird on his way by it, and brought it back to hand. I made him sit at heel and face the other downed bird. When released, he brought the second bird (which was still alive and flapping both of its wings in his face) and brought it back for a hand delivery as well. I was absolutely stunned.

We spent the rest of the morning training with these two freshly killed doves. Duck season starts in two weeks here in Texas and he will be 16 weeks old on opening day. I can't believe it, but he will be ready to go to the blind for some simple retrieves.

Once again, thanks for everything you have done in helping us.

Yvonne-

Good morning. Thought I would update you on my puppy's progress. Roux was 17 weeks old in the attached pictures and has progressed so fast that I couldn't help but take him out in the boat with me this weekend. He retrieved a total of 6 ducks, including one double. He is still so young he can barely lift ducks once they are out of the water. Prior to the hunt, I had not worked with him from a boat but his drive made this an effortless transition. I shot a greenhead on Saturday morning and as soon as it hit the water, so did Roux....with no consideration as to how he was going to get back in it. When he swam up alongside the boat with his prize, I pulled him on board. He still had the duck in his mouth.

Now...I am no expert trainer by any means, just an average guy who likes to hunt. I am amazed that I was able to take a 4 month old puppy duck hunting out of a boat and that he performed like he did. The credit all goes to you and the dogs you breed, they are awesome! Great pets in the house and extremely driven in the field or water!

Thanks again for everything, you and your dogs are the best.

Hi Yvonne -

Just wanted to let you know that our beautiful puppy has happily inserted herself into our family! The name "Lucy" seems to have stuck - and we sometimes call her Lucy Ann (kinda like Louisiana, her "home" state!). She is quite the little princess - and definitely a people lover; if we are in another room when she wakes up, she immediately starts whimpering for us! She is always by one of our our sides...it is really sweet! She is also quite playful and the kids adore her! With so many kids in and out of our house throughout the day, she is never lacking for some attention, that's for sure! Aside from normal puppy issues (chewing & housebreaking) - she is about as perfect as you can get!!

We were certainly lucky to have found you for a breeder. Our vet was impressed with her health certificate (including the hip certification on Cher) and when we spoke to her about the time you spent with us, she was even more impressed. Thank you so much for the continuous updates while Cher was pregnant, and the puppy pictures after they were born. It was such a treat to see them grow from the start, especially since we were in another state! It is obvious you love what you do, and love your dogs. Her pedigree is outstanding, and even though we won't be using her to field test or hunt, we know we have a beautiful & smart dog that our family will love for many years! Our friends laughed when they found out we were driving from Florida to Lousiana to get our new puppy...but it was certainly worth it - and we told them so! The kids (and us!) had so much fun playing with all the pups. It was hard to choose her - they were all adorable & sweet - but I know we made the right choice...we just love our Lucy!

Thank you again...we will send more updates and pictures soon...she is growing every day!

Hey Yvonne

Just looked at some pics you had on Facebook and thought it was time for a Lucy update (Roux & Cher litter 7-21-09 :)

It's hard to belive she is now 8 months old! She is a wonderful dog - not to mention beautiful. She weighs in at just over 50 lbs, so her size is just right as well. We get compliments on her all the time - her face and coat are just so stiking! Even though we don't use her to hunt, every now and then when we are outside, you can just see that instinct in her. She loves to visually track birds and always has her nose to the ground!

Most importantly to us - she loves people and loves her family....the joy in her manner is infectious! It's actually quite funny to watch her greet others, especially other dogs, because she has yet to meet one she doesn't like...as far as she is concerned, they should all be her best friend. Hope all is well! Thanks again for everything...

Dear Yvonne,

I wanted to write you to tell you how thankful we are for our new puppy, Riley Roux. We call her, Riley. She is such a joy. Sonny and Lucy sure know how to breed a cutie!

Thank you for all of the wonderful information you shared with us from the moment we contacted you about wanting to get a Chocolate Lab. We appreciate all the pictures of Lucy while carrying the litter: then of course, all the pictures after the pups were born. Every few days there was an update with pictures. It made the weeks pass quicker as we awaited the time when we could pick up Riley from you.

It was great to be able to surprise by 17 year old son with the puppy. He did not have a clue...that made it even more fun!
Also, thank you for the information that you sent to us afterwards on tips for training, etc. We have been using that information as well as tips from the internet and a couple of books. She is such a quick learner. From 6 weeks of age when we picked her up from you to today at 10 weeks of age, she knows outside for the bathroom, sit, down, stay, eat, come, and follow. She is very smart! We plan to go to obedience school as soon as she finishes getting all of her shots.

Again, thank you for a wonderful experience! I've attached a few pictures of her growth over the past four weeks. We will keep you up to date on her progress.

Truly,

Hello Yvonne,

Here are a couple of pics of Riley Roux. She is so sweet and such a joy. She is almost 9 months old and weighs over 65 pounds. She loves to run, swim, and retrieve. We have gone to dog obedience school when she was much younger. This has been great because we have taught her a lot of things. It is a lot of fun to play with her, and she is good listener.

Thank you for breeding such great dogs!

Dear Yvonne,

It was this time last year that I started thinking about getting a new lab. Several months earlier, we had put our 12 year old black lab "Cutter" down. I began searching for the next dog. I just couldn't do another black lab and started to think maybe a chocolate lab would be the ticket. Through the internet I discovered the famous Dakota Cajun "Roux". I loved his looks and his accomplishments. I showed my wife, MK, his picture and between the tears she said it looked just like Cutter. I then discovered you and Bayou Labradors and just couldn't believe how good looking all your dogs were. MK and I were lucky enough to get the first pick male of Cher and Roux's May 2009 breeding. The only problem was it was over 9 months away before our boy would show up. Yet during those long months is when I discovered how truly special a breeder you are. Yes you gave me names of people to call including Roux's owner Ronnie. But it was your caring attitude and your dedication to ALL your customers that really set you apart. I was ready for a dog and I could have gotten a Roux male from another breeding but my gut told me it wouldn't be the same. Through every email and phone conversation, I learned how important the puppy socialization process is and how dedicated you are to it. Every step you take is part of a plan to create a solid foundation for a loving and fearless lab. Your emails and pictures during the birth and over the ensuing 7-8 weeks bonded us all in ways few breeders attempt. To say the journey was worth the wait is an understatement!!

Yvonne here is B2.....Cajun Roux's Red Dawn Rising aka "Rouxfus". From the moment we got him he was special. He learned sit in a matter of a couple days. He will come running from 25 yards away when MK or I say "Rouxfus - Here". He snuggles in under my feet while watching college football. This weekend at 8 weeks old, we took him to our beach house. He ran in the waves, dug in the sand and followed us everywhere we went. I am amazed at how he will wander around the yard and yet never leave. You call his name and the ears perk up and he comes charging. We throw bumpers in the hallway and his tail is just wagging as he brings it back.

Yvonne, you are a breeder who cares. One who takes pride in her pups. It truly shows. I can't tell you how many people have remarked about how good looking Rouxfus is. I also can't seem to stop being amazed at how things just don't bother Rouxfus. Loud noises like leaf blowers and mowers are no problem. Rouxfus is very confidant and that comes from great breeding and caring breeders.

We will continue to update you with pictures and emails on Rouxfus and his adventures and accomplishments. Thank you so much!!!!!

Yvonne, Yvonne, Yvonne,

I have no idea where to start... Lesley and I wanted to THANK you so very much for the joy that you have brought to our lives with Lilly! We had been on a search for the perfect breeder to get a female chocolate Labrador for almost a year, when I came across Bayou Labradors. After talking with you, I knew we had found the right place.

From our endless questions, to the day long visit (from Texas) to your kennel, you have always been helpful in whatever we needed. Whether it was a phone call or an email to update us throughout the process we were always informed on everything going on. We REALLY enjoyed receiving the pictures of the puppies as they grew and it gave us a great opportunity to share the experience with family and friends. We would highly recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone!!

Thanks again for EVERYTHING!

Hi Yvonne!

Just wanted to check in and see how you and all the dogs were. I hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving. Lesley, Lilly and I are doing great! I attached a few pictures of Lilly in the snow that we had in Houston the other day. We are taking her home to NC for Christmas to meet everyone. She starts her gundog training at Best Retrievers on January 10. We are excited for her to start, but it is going to be very hard to send her off for 4 months.

Hi Yvonne,

We finally have decided on the name Duke for our puppy. We took him to our vet for the puppy checkup. He got his second set of shots and de-worming. He weighed 16.5 lbs. His health is very good - heart, ears etc. He must be pretty smart as he got out of his wire playpen by himself not once but three times.

Over the years we have had six purebreds, a Chow, an Australian Cattle dog and several Swiss Mountain dogs. All of them were loving dogs but very high maintenance in every way possible. We have also talked to countless other breeders. You are the most organized and conscientious breeder we have had. Visiting you in New Orleans and seeing the puppies and the dams cared for in an organized, absolutely clean and loving environment was really an enjoyable experience. Duke's mom, Cher, behaved so nicely even with visitors around her puppies. We are very happy that we found you and your beautiful dogs on the website."

Duke is a lovely dog although he has a mind of his own. We realize that we need to work with him to keep him occupied and happy. He is feisty and adorable. When he is sitting quietly or lying down with his head up he is gorgeous.

All our best,

Thank you, Yvonne, for being so patient and willing to answer all of our questions. We could not be happier with our new baby girl. She is an excellent puppy, and came from an excellent breeder. We could not have asked for a better "Roux" puppy.

Our experience with Yvonne was absolutely wonderful! She would call us just about every week to keep us apprised of the status of the mother of the pup we choose. She was very knowledgable and nice when we showed up with our children to pick our pup from the litter. She provided soft drinks which was above and beyond and answered all of our questions. When it came time to fill out the paperwork she had eveything organized in an enevelope and was methodical and maticulous in going through the paperwork to ensure that everything needed was present. She sent pics of the pups weekly from the time they were born until pickup day. We would reccomend her to anyone interested in owning a chocolate pup!!

Dear Yvonne,

I want to thank you for breeding such a wonderful puppy and spending all of the time that you have answering my many questions! Since I live in the same town, it was such a nice experience to be able to stop by and visit with you and all of the puppies.

I had last pick of the females and after visiting a couple of times and seeing how beautiful and well socialized they all were, I knew that whatever puppy would eventually be ours she would be a great puppy. She has exceeded our expectations! She is very intelligent and well behaved as well as beautiful. We have a busy house with our two boys, but she has responded well to training. She has quickly learned all that we have asked of her.

Edda was a gift to my husband for his birthday and he has told me on more than one occasion that I could not have gotten him a better dog. She has bonded with all of us and is truly a part of our family. She quickly became best buddies with my five year old son and is a loving companion to all of us. We look forward to many years of good times with our family dog!

If you ever have anyone who would like to speak to someone about one of your dogs, you can give them my number as well!

Sincerely,

Dear Yvonne,

Just wanting to give you an update on Bayou's Heart of Dixie (Dixie). She has been nothing but pure joy from the first time we held her. Larry is having the time of his life training her.

She is ready to duck hunt along side of him now. Larry says Dixie is his canine "soul mate". We cannot begin to tell you how grateful we are to you for your wonderful chocolates. They are exceptional dogs! You are so thoughful to keep the new families informed throughout the whole process and that make it even more special! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yvonne,

We are so pleased to have "Roxie Roux" as part of our family. At 15 weeks and 25 lbs, she is such an intelligent and fearless puppy. Roxie has a real zest for fun as she loves to retrieve, swim, and ride in the Kayaks with the family. She is incredibly social and loves to play, especially with her litter mate brother "Rouxfus". With all that being said, I am so amazed at how calm and independent she can be within our home.

Peter and I would agree that one of the best experiences with our Roxie was being able to visit her first home and get acquainted with both you and the puppies. Your knowledge of your dogs and the care you show was so evident. You were so genuinely interested in helping us choose the right dog and your early description of our Roxie's personality was so accurate. You are such an exceptional breeder and we are so appreciative for the wonderful experience.

We love checking your website for updates on all the puppies. We will send an updated picture of Roxie as she is growing so fast. She is adorable!!

Wishing you all the best,

Hi Yvonne,

I just wanted to update you on Eddington's (B1's) progress. He's about 15 weeks old now and doing great. Our vet said that he's perfectly healthy and that he'll be a pretty big dog. He took very quickly to being house broken and he's great around the younger kids in my house and he's especially friendly towards people and dogs he doesn't know. Everyone comments on how beautiful a dog he is and I'm anxious to see how big and beautiful he's going to look when he gets older. Thanks again for answering all of our questions and be as helpful as you were.

Ms. Yvonne,

Sorry it took so long to get these to you - it rained every weekend here for the last several weeks. The kids love Fritz and he is already a great dog. It was impossible to keep Fritz, my son and my daughter still long enough to take any pictures.

Yvonne,

Thanks so much for all of the care and work you and your husband Steve put into breeding. I knew long before we saw the pups that your program was outstanding. Our new boy, Louisiana's Cajun Kodiac "Cody", is doing fine and I've started on house training and kennel training.

His house training started the moment we got home when I took him out to his spot. Other than few accidents due mainly to bad timing on my part, he's done well. I also introduced him to the kennel his first day with the gate open and by the second night he became comfortable when tired and slept in it closed next to us for several hours. We took your advice and let Jadyn, out 5 year old, sleep next to him by the kennel. He's taking a nap in it right now as I write this.

We've had several friends over to visit and he is getting socialized to us and strangers very well, everybody loves him. I've even gotten him to sit for treats today using no verbal commands, just positive reinforcement of desired behavior. It's a little ahead of the curve on this, but what the heck, he's doing great.

Overall, I'd say you provided us with a very healthy pup that has a wonderful personality and has great hunting genes. I don't think I could have asked for more and I wouldn't hesitate one moment recommending you to anyone interested in a chocolate lab.

Dear Yvonne,

Here are a few pictures of our loved one, Turbo and the wonderful conditions we hunt ducks in Michigan. He has brought much joy to us and is a perfect addition to our family.

His abilities have been incredible from the start, as such things as swimming at 9 weeks old on his own and in the hunting field at a little over 3 months.

He is a quick learner, and definitely could go far with a professional trainer. I will do my best to train him and I am sure what I am lacking in training will be filled in by Turbo.

I am grateful for having the opportunity to receive one of your puppies.

Warmest Regards,

Hello Yvonne,

I would like to say that we love Abbey. She is beautiful and is 10 months old now. She is doing great in training. After we got her we had some trouble in the family, my mom's Cancer had gotten worse and she passed away in October, Mom loved Abbey. I am including some pics of her so you can see. The only thing worrying me about her is her size. She is not growing. She is very small the trainer calls her a Pirogue Lab. I hope she will grow more in the new year to AKC standards.

Yvonne,

I can’t say enough about our precious TANK. He is adorable and we couldn’t ask for a better puppy. Tank was a Christmas surprise for my husband and kids and the best Christmas present we could have gotten. Tank loves running after the kids and had a ball in the recent snow. He is growing so fast, now 13 weeks old and a fast learner. I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer so he can go swimming in the lake with our female lab, Mocha, and all the kids. My husband is excited about this coming year’s duck season and has already started Tank retrieving ducks. Chopper and Brandy did good!!!
I will recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone looking for a fine chocolate lab.

Thanks,

Yvonne,

This is the latest picture of Bisquit along with my youngest son Matthew.
It was taken by Bisquit's trainer on Saturday February 13, 2010.
This is the first time I had seen Bisquit since December 8, 2009.
The trainer has been very impressed with him. He told me that Bisquit was doing very well with his training, and he absolutlly loves ducks.
When he lets Bisquit out of his pen, the first thing he does is go to where the trainer throws decoys and starts running around looking for them.

All of my family, wife included, has fallen in love with Bisquit. Not only is he going to be a great hunter, he will also be a great companion to my family.

Thanks for doing such a great job in breeding your dogs. The time and effort you put into the breeding process, really pays off in the animals you have.

Yvonne

We picked up Nessa in December, and it was just as every testimonial has described. Yvonne and Steve truly care about their dogs in a way unlike anyone else. She takes as much time as is necessary to help you throughout the selection process and will go out of her way to make sure that you have any question answered that will help you take great care of her puppies. Within a few days after picking up our puppy was already exhibiting benefits of her careful breeding. She was quickly able to be potty trained, crate trained, sit, stay and come. It truly amazed me how quickly she learns, and at almost 6 months old now she is still well ahead of the curve in terms of her training compared with other dogs. Yvonne's careful selection of dogs with desirable traits combined with her extensive knowledge and care while rearing the young pups results in labs that quickly become the admiration of anyone who meets one of Yvonne's dogs. I am extremely thankful for all of the updates and phone calls from Yvonne throughout the entire process. It can be a long wait to get one of her puppies, but it is well worth it. We never thought that we would want two dogs, but after such a great experience and after falling in love with such a great pup, we are considering getting another puppy. Yvonne, thank you again for all of your care and advice and for putting so much expertise and love into raising your dogs.

Hi Yvonne,

Meet Mojo! He is a wonderful puppy and great with our kids. Mojo was a "present under the tree for Christmas" surprise for the kids and they are completely over the moon with him. He loves to play catch and trains very well. Thou, he seems a little scared of the dark sometimes, he is curious about everything and everyone. We want to give you a "HUGE" Thank you for the wonderful addition to our family and we will be sure to call Bayou Labrador's if we ever need another puppy.

P.S. He is also passionate about eating my daughters Flip-Flops!

Hi Yvonne,

I'm sorry I took so long to send pictures of "Bayou Chopper's Cajun Callie". The 1st picture is Callie at about 3 Months and 2nd she's 6 Months. I would recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone that is looking for a beautiful, healthy Lab.

Yvonne, Callie is very smart and strong willed. She was potty trained in in a very short time and she has no problem letting you know what she wants. I thought we would have a problem with our 11 year old Chocolate Lab but, in just a few weeks she was cleaning Callie's eyes and ears just like she was Callie's Mom.

Callie was retrieving at 3 Months old. She loves to swim and will put her whole head under a water faucet. My husband shot his shotgun by her and she has no fear. She is not even scared of the vacuum. Callie loves kids and other dogs. My only problem is keeping up with all her energy!! As you can see she is beautiful and a dark chocolate color. Callie is everything I wanted in a family pet and I'm sure she is going to love dove and duck hunting.

Thanks for everything,

Dixie is doing great. She went to the vet today for her 12 week visit. She is 15.5 lbs. I don't know how that compares to her brothers or sisters. She is really so great. She eats well, sleeps well and she is such a joy in all our lives. I know everyone feels that their dog was meant for their family but we really do feel that Dixie was meant for our family.

I tell you I'm so in love with her! We all are! She loves when big Bo gets home and gets so excited to see him but she would still rather follow me around and sleep at my feet. She is definitely a "Momma's Girl". She is SO PRETTY!

Thank You Again!!

I thought you would like some pictures of Remi. She is such an awesome addition to our family. Thank you for all the phone calls, text messages, and pictures. It made the whole experience so wonderful. She is very playful...but she stills sleeps alot. She is either sleeping or full speed ahead. She is potty trained completely in only 2 weeks. She went swimming for the first time at lake ouachita in north arkansas, she loved the water. Thank you for everything. I will send you an update on her later. I attached some pics!

Here's a pic of Buster, myself and Bailey, our other choc. lab, in front of our house in CO. He's a doll, but quite the play/fighter with Bailey. They go at it for hours. He now has two scars on his face and we're starting to call him Scarface! Bailey is gentle with him but Buster doesn't know when to stop sometimes.

He's been swimming in our pond and retrieving just like Bailey does. We didn't tell him, he just saw Bailey, and jumped right in and swam out to meet him. Then we held Bailey and threw an object into the water for Buster and he went right out after it! What a champ! He's 3 months old in this picture, Bailey's 8 years old, don't ask me how old I am! ha!

Hi Yvonne,

We decided to call him Roofus. He has been a really cool dog. He learned to sit in under a minute and then he learned to lay down. He is retrieving really well, even retrieving his tennis ball in the pool. It's going to be really exciting to see him retrieve his first duck. He sleeps all night and when he's ready to get up, early in the morning, he is FULL of energy. He's got a Blue Heeler puppy friend that can keep up with his high energy. Thanks, for breeding such great Labs.
