This is the only Picture of Camp that I have available, it's on Facebook but I'll upload some more of him and I will send you our Xmas card. He weighed 57lbs at the vet last visit but I'm sure he's grown since. He gets compliments everyday on his looks he is a gorgeous dog and extremely smart. He is just about fully trained as far as bird hunting goes and I'm in the process of teaching him to track deer and it won't be long before he gets the hang of that I'm sure. He is going to Arkansas in two weeks to go on his first duck hunt. When I tell people how old he is they don't believe me. Camp out hunts and out retrieves any dog that he has ever been against. Ya'lls dogs speak for themselves, they are incredible good looking and not far from geniuses. I recommend y'all every chance I get and tell people if they want the best to call y'all. I just wanted to give you an update on him and I know you truly love every dog that has and will go through Bayou Labradors. I will never purchase a dog from anywhere else. I hope that y'all have a blessed holiday and I know things get crazy this time of year for y'all so best of luck.

Yvonne,
Buck has been a wonderful addition to our family. I have trained several labs in my life but none have come along as quick as Buck has. When we got him he was the runt and weighed a mere 6lbs. Now at 4 months old he is weighing 35lbs, doing water retrieves, doubles, blinds and up to 80yd retrieves. At the rate he is going he will make a champion before 2yrs old. His intelligence and drive to retrieve is incredible. Oh and he is already riding the 4 wheeler like a pro and loves it. I plan on taking him duck hunting for the second split towards the end of December. I will keep you updated on his progress.

Thanks,

Yvonne,

Here's a couple pictures from today of Buck. He is phenomenal...not even 6 months old and retrieving like a champion. We has a bunch of 5 mallards come in today and killed all 5. He retrieved all 5 flawlessly with 2 being blind retrieves in the woods!. He has learned so much so fast, I am running out of things to teach him...lol. He sits and behaves like a seasoned dog. Oh and the little runt weighs 60lbs now. He is having the time of his life and so am I!

Hi Yvonne!

We received Dixie about 2 months ago after getting your name as a recommendation from a neighbor. She was shipped to us and the process was seamless. You did a magnificent job arranging the delivery, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. Dixie has been great-- she is such a pretty dog, everyone comments about how beautiful her coat is. She has an adorable way of sitting and looking up at you with her head cocked, like she's trying to decide what to do. She is very alert and personable. She was house trained in less than 2 weeks and has already mastered basic commands. We were worried about having a puppy, but she has been really delightful! She is calm, personable, and a true sweetheart. She has fit into our family perfectly and we cant thank you enough!

Dear Yvonne,

Attaching a video of Kokoa retrieving at 4 months. She is an aggressive retriever already as you see! She is showing such maturity at a young age, looks to us for direction and has a strong desire to please so she is easy to train and already knows; her name of course, come, stay, sit, down, retrieve commands and understands the big word "NO". She is strong, healthy and shows great potential. Husband so pleased says he thinks he will have to get back into dove & duck hunting just for her..... Labs love a job you know!
My husband asked I share with you that he has owned Labradors since the early 1970s. Most always he purchased the pick in a litter. Our Bayou Labrador puppy "Kokoa" born last July 2011 to Belle/Chopper was not only the 4th female but the last born and he is convinced she is the smartest female he has ever owned and equally impressed with her stamina and enthusiasm. Your breeding program is to be commended!

Right now she is at the window practicing her "big dog" bark at the wild turkey roaming through the barn yard. She is always good for a laugh!

Thank you Bayou Labradors for your expert care and bringing this "Chocolate Delight" into our lives!

Hi Yvonne and Steve,

Parker and I couldn't have picked a better breeder to help make our life complete. When we decided to start looking for a puppy we researched several breeders. After looking at your website and reading all the positive things, we knew that Bayou Labradors was the right choice. Throughout the process of Cajun being born, we felt like we were there everyday with the pictures and text messages you sent us. You were so patient and kind to our many questions about our new addition. ( We are first time parents!)
When we saw Cajun for the first time, we knew that he was the one for us! We have been so pleased with Cajun and his retrieving abilitities. He truly is a smart, loving, incredible dog.
He is now 5 months old and we can't remember what life was like before him. Everyday he makes us proud watching him grow and learn! He is anxiously awaiting his first duck season!

Thank you so much for everything you have done for us!

My name is Jimmy Wilson, I am an amateur trainer and handler out of Mathiston, Mississippi. I was hired to train Chopper in March of 2007, he was ten months old at the time. Although he came to me for obedience training only, I knew right away that “Chopper was a Natural” and with the right training he could easily participate in the UKC and AKC hunt venues. Almost immediately I was very impressed with how eager he was to learn. He knew what was expected of him and he was always willing to please. Within a week Chopper was retrieving 100-200 yard water marks which were incredible for a young pup with one week of formal training.

Over the next couple of months, Chopper gained incredible power. He was running hard and fast to and from the blinds while carrying presence and style. He was remarkably strong and full of drive. In May of 2007, only 12 months old, Chopper passed his first hunt test and then went on to earn his Hunting Retriever Championship and his Senior Hunter title at 21 months old.

I have totally enjoyed Chopper and all of the wonderful adventures we have shared in training and hunt test. I look forward to continuing his training throughout the Upland, Master and Grand levels. Chopper is a dream come true for any owner or trainer and I love him as if he were my own dog. Chopper has sired his first litter of puppies and I am happy to say that Chopper’s owners are giving me first pick male as a gift.

Yvonne,

Attached is a picture of our puppy after one week at his new home. He has made the transition quite well, and is the perfect puppy. We named him “Singing River's Tomahawk Cruzer”, and call “Cruz”. He had his Vet check today and checked out great! We appreciate everything and will keep you updated on his development.

Cruz died from a Pulmonary Aneurism at 3 ½ months old. Shortly after he ate the artery ruptured and filled his lungs with blood. The vet said he died within two minutes. The Goff family will be getting a new puppy sometime in the near future. We are so sorry for their loss and we will keep them in our prayers.

On Sept 8, 2011 the Goff family came to pick up their new puppy. They picked a male puppy out of Chopper and Coco's litter. His name is Broux and he looks just like Cruz. I will be posting pictures as I get them.

Hey Yvonne,

Here’s a short video of our pup, “Singing Rivers Blackhawk Brouxer” AKA Broux. This was shot at about 11 weeks old and he is an amazing pup! He gets plenty of attention everywhere we go, always sporting his rich dark chocolate coat, and playful attitude. Broux continues to impress me each week as we train, with his intelligence and ease of training. At 12 weeks he is showing exceptional drive and ability, all compliments to you and your dogs. I would recommend Yvonne, Steve and Bayou Labradors to anyone looking for a beautiful pup, with that “over the top” potential. I will keep you updated on his development. Thanks again, Casey

Dear Yvonne,

Attached are some pictures of Dixie on her first waterfowling trip this October. I have been very impressed with her drive, marking ability and "birdiness". My hunting buddy refers to her as "a fire- breathing monster".

From the beginning of her training, she has been a very quick study and eager to please. Any shortcomings that she has at this point are my fault, not hers. I would recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone interested in building a fine hunting dog and family companion.

Yvonne,

Buck is 15 months. He is a beautiful dog. He is developing quiet a physique and I can't even begin to describe his drive. I talk with Jimmy Wilson often for advice in training and after this duck season, I may send him to Jimmy to work towards his HR title. Incredible blood line.

Hi Yvonne!

It's been way too long since I checked in. Attached is a new picture of Benelli. I took it outside and kind of on his level. He weighs about 16 pounds now and will be getting microchipped in a couple of weeks. He lays still to let me trim his nails and loves to be bathed with his special shampoo that you recommended. It makes him smell soooo good!

He is truly amazing Yvonne. We take him everywhere we go and he behaves himself. He sits, stays, comes, and many other things! He catches on very quickly. He is also the most handsome puppy I've ever met. I'm actually more excited to see him grown up though. He's definately mature for his age and we love him more and more every day. I just can't believe his personality. He definately has his puppy moments, but for the most part he acts like an old soul in a young pups body.

I know I've said this before but you truly touched our hearts with this pup and made our dreams come true. We couldn't have imagined such a better puppy. I'm just glad that fate led us to you, Spice and Chopper! :-)

Thanks again, and I will try to keep you updated more often!

Yvonne,

Just wanted to let you know that Tripp is doing great! We really appreciate all the work you put into breeding quality dogs and keeping us up to date with emails/pictures. He is so smart and immediately became part of our family. Everywhere we go people love him and comment on how good looking he is. He has been fun to train. He already knows sit, here, kennel, he has been swimming, and has retrieved live birds, as you can see, and so much more.

Yvonne,

Jazmine is doing great! She went for her next vet visit…they love her. I think Dr Devun wishes she was his. She is staying in her crate at night just as content as can be. First thing in the morning, she is all play! Her favorite thing is a stuffed mallard duck we found at Petsmart. She loves to retrieve it over and over! After that, she is very happy to follow us around and participate in what ever activities we do for the day. We are considering sending her to a obedience/retriever training camp. But we haven’t decided yet. She has mastered sit, stay and come pretty well. Everyone just adores her. Once the puppy stage of biting EVERYTHING passes, she will be absolutely PERFECT! Thanks for breeding such a great pup for us. Enjoy the pictures. I will send more soon.

Yvonne,

I can't thank you enough! B3 is the most adorable puppy I've ever laid my eyes upon. It was truly love at first sight. We named him Bayou's Island Bay Coconut "Coco". He is such a good boy with loads of personality...and those eyes...love those eyes! He's quite a little character.

I can honestly say, after a year of researching, that you have the highest quality chocolate labs and are the most caring breeder out there. I highly recommend Bayou Labradors and feel there is no other in comparison.

Our puppy’s name is Gunner, he is a chocolate Lab! He is absolutely beautiful and sweet as can be. We have four children under the age of seven and Gunner is so wonderful and playful with them. They love him soooo much! He is such a great dog. Extremely smart and has been so easy to train. We have had 2 other puppies in the past and Gunner has by far been the smartest and best for our family! I highly recommend Bayou Labradors, great pups! We are so very pleased and happy with them.

In July 2008 we had to put our beloved 12 1/2 year old black lab, Cutter, to sleep. When we came home from the vet I told my husband, Clint, I never wanted another dog, ever, because I never wanted to feel that heartache again. Well, here we are, 3 years later, the very proud owners of not one but TWO Bayou Labradors dogs!!! Rouxfus, 2, came into our lives and home in Sept of 2009. You can read my husband's testimony and also some of Yvonne's comments to get to know this absolutely amazing dog and how Clint researched for the “perfect” dog.

I have had so much fun helping out a little with Rouxfus' training that I decided I wanted my own dog to train! I have to also say that as I have watched an incredible friendship form between my husband, myself and Yvonne, there was never any question about where I wanted to get my pup!! Yvonne and Steve are the most caring breeders and dog people and the way they care for the pups the first 8 weeks of their lives is quite simply amazing. And on top of caring for the litters, Yvonne somehow finds the time to send numerous pictures and adorable slideshows to help us all choose the perfect pup, in addition to texting and emails and answering numerous questions!!!

So, in late July, 2011 Bayou Chopper's She's Everything to Me aka Paisley (yes, I am a country music fan!) came into our lives! She is everything I could want or imagine in a dog and is already amazing us with her intelligence and retrieval skills! When she swims, she glides as smoothly as an otter as she retrieves an Avery teal or a small bumper. Paisley is also retrieving small bumpers on land and returns them right back to me. She is learning obedience skills as well and knows her sit, down and kennel commands quite well. She and Rouxfus get along famously!!! He is very patient with her and those sharp puppy teeth! Truly, they are each other's best friend!

15 Weeks Old

They each help me to not mind so much my own empty nest, since now it is filled with chocolate labs!!!! :) It is one of the best feelings in the world when Paisley comes running up to me and is always so happy to see me!! I can’t wait until she is ready for her first hunt test.

Thank you, Yvonne, for everything that YOU are to Clint and me!! We love you!!!

Hi Yvonne,

Just a note to tell you how thrilled we are that we selected Bayou Labradors as our breeder. We could not ask for a better dog than our Sweet Lou (aka- B2). Dan did the research after losing our Chocolate Lab Jake, son of Barracuda Blue @ 12.5 years and we found that your kennel had Cuda's blood line. We were impressed with your willingness to answer any questions, as well as the communication and pictures from the time the puppies were born until we picked Lou up.

Lou is a quick learner and very intelligent- he knows hand signals as well as verbal commands. He has great field instincts and LOVES the pool. He is a sweet boy, very loving and a great family dog.

We highly recommend Bayou Labradors as a quality breeder.

Yvonne & Steve,

This is one of our first photographs with "Bourbon" after bringing him home a few days ago! If you look close, you can see he has the same little goatee just under is bottom lip as Chopper! He is everything we had hoped he would be and more! He is exceptionally smart and handsome! And there is no doubt this dog is born to retrieve! He exudes natural ability and passion in everything he does.

We were so excited when the day finally arrived for us to come pick him up! The photographs and video's you sent us of him and his litter from the day and time he was born made it seem as though we already knew him before we ever met him in person. It was apparent from the time we first contacted you about a puppy how much you love the breed and how committed you are to your exceptional chocolate labradors. We feel so fortunate to have found you and to have our little "Bourbon". Thank you for everything you do for the pups and their new families!

It was wonderfual getting to meet you and all of the fabulous Bayou Labradors! They are all first quality dogs and puppies! We will keep you updated on Boubon's progress and we look forward to keeping up with all of your dogs and new pups.

Ms Yvonne,

I would like to say that my experience with Bayou Labradors has exceeded all expectations. When I first contacted you in October 2010 I was looking for a female puppy but what I found was a breeder who has set the standard for what a top quality kennel should be. Over the last year I have witnessed the passion you have for the breed along with experiencing the enthusiasm you have to communicate every step of the breeding processes with pictures, texts, emails, and phone calls. I would definitely recommend Bayou Labrador's .

Junebug is now 10 weeks old and weighs 19 pounds. She accepts training very easily and has a great disposition. In just three weeks she has learned sit, sit to whistle, lay, come, kennel, heels on a lead, breaks on her name when playing fetch and will not come in the house or out of her kennel until invited. I have also begun introducing her to water.

I will continue to send updates and again thank you for all you do.

Yvonne,

We couldn't be any happier with our beautiful puppy "Duke". He is now 10 months old and spoiled rotten! He was a gift to our son for his 8th grade graduation & definitely worth the wait in order to get such a high quality chocolate lab. We cannot go anywhere without some compliment about his shiny dark coat or his muscular build. Of course this makes my son so proud & makes his early 5:30 am training sessions less painful~ haha! It's amazing how smart & easily trained he is which is a testament to your good breeding. Even our vet, who has 2 labs of her own, commented on the great pedigree in Duke & said he had all the markings of a great hunter. He is a natural in the water & took to it immediately. His crate training at the beginning was surprisingly very easy as well.

Thanks again for all the time that you spent with us in picking out our new family member. Your pictures & updates during the wait to bring him home were well appreciated. You truly have a gift and know exactly what to do to make us all feel special! We highly recommend you to anyone looking for the best chocolate labs available. We look forward to many happy times with Duke & have to remind him every once in a while that he is a DOG!! He thinks differently!! He is so loving and greets each of us every morning with a HUGE hug & kiss. It's like having an 80 lbs. lap dog!!

Thanks Again!

Yvonne,

Ella Sue is the most perfect puppy we could have ever imagined and everything we hoped she would be and more. She is beautiful, smart and so playful! Every day she surprises us by showing us something new that she has learned! She is sitting on command and fetching like a true retriever at 9 weeks old! We could not be happier with our little girl.

Bayou Labradors was a blessing for us to find. The dogs are beautiful, smart and well behaved but more that that, Bayou Labrador makes it such a special experience. We were so excited to get Ella and the constant pictures, videos and news we received about the litter before we picked her up made the experience so personal and amazing! We can't wait to see what she will learn tomorrow and see the dog she becomes! She really made our little family complete!

Thank you so much for everything!

Hey Yvonne,

Sorry for the lag in response...we've both been very busy. Roux is doing great...he has so much personality it is kinda mind blowing. He is like our son...my dad, who had a couple labs he hunted in the past, calls him his "Granddog" :) haha. Below is a letter Lauren wrote fro your website...attached are three photos of Roux at dif stages of his growth. The one of him at about 8 weeks is an incredible photo, we are going to enter it in a calendar contest or something :) Thanks!

Dear Yvonne,

We just wanted to let you know how much we love Roux! As a 10 pound puppy, Roux was adorable -- dark chocolate fur and beautiful blue eyes. He was a very quick learner, and was house-trained with minimal effort. We never had any problems with him chewing furniture or shoes. He loves his stuffed ducks though, and has chewed through quite a few them. Roux is now 17 months old and weighs nearly 90 lbs! It's hard to believe he used to be so small. His eyes are a greenish-hazel and he is absolutely gorgeous. We get comments almost every time we take him out about how glossy his coat is and how handsome he is.

Disposition-wise, Roux is wonderful. He is very obedient and very smart. He has a large vocabulary, and the list of words we cannot say around him (walk, park, car, ride, hungry, ball, backyard, etc.) keeps growing and growing. He is a very good listener, and cocks his head inquisitively whenever we speak to him (it's pretty adorable). He loves water and takes advantage of any opportunity to get wet, whether it's in a fountain, a sprinkler, or even in our shower (he has been known to try and sneak in). He also adores playing ball. We make it a point to play fetch with him at least twice a day for a good period of time using the Chuck-It thrower. No matter how long or hard he plays for, it's never enough. He could play ball forever. Roux is very lively and very athletic. He's also a great watchdog and is very protective of the house. He gets along well with other dogs, and has never once displayed any aggression -- even when other dogs have been aggressive to him. He is very gentle around children, small dogs, and puppies. Roux loves his Mama and Daddy (me and Duane) very much, and he adores snuggling with us in the evenings. Roux is very affectionate and very sweet. He is also very goofy and always makes us laugh.

All in all, Roux is a fantastic dog! We couldn't be happier with him. He brings so much joy to our lives, and has become an integral part of our family.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Yvonne,

At just over 1yr, Bentley is all that Staci and I could have ever asked for in a puppy. She is extremely playful and smart. Although I don't spend as much time training her as I like, she is pretty impressive with all of the skills that Staci and I have taught her. It seems like everywhere we take her, we are always getting compliments on how well behaved she is and how beautiful of a puppy she is. Once again Mrs. Yvonne I am glad that we found you and fortunate enough to be able to get an awesome dog from you. Most importantly would recommend you to anyone looking for such a champion chocolate Lab!!

Yvonne, wanted to give you an update on our beloved Dutch. He is just a few weeks over 3 months old and performing like a champ already. I have been training him since he was 10 weeks old. He is obedient trained, sits and comes to the whistle, making 65 yard retrieves, started double retrieves, steady on the line, retrieving in water and looking to learn more. He learns very fast. We are members of the Amite River Retriever Hunt Club and I can't wait to start the hunt test with him. Michele has got him spoiled rotten, he actually thinks he is a human baby. He is a big part of our lives and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Yvonne,
Just wanted to give you an update on Dutch. I know its been a while but this is where we are at today. Dutch recieved his Started Hunting Retriever title at the age of 6 months. We continued training hard. He was in the blind teal hunting this season at 10 months. He picked up 80 teal for us with about 30% blind retrieves in the rice field. This past weekend i took him to Columbia Ms to run his seasoned test. He passed both days at the age of 11 months. He ran with courage and style the whole weekend. Michele and I are so proud of him. We have one more season test to past, will run in estherwood,la at the end of this month, before he gets his HR Title at the age of 12 months. Chopper and Suzie pup.

He will be going to Ozark Kennels in Arkansas the middle of April. Can't wait for him to have some manners. Matthew was very surprised when we gave Duke to him for graduation. He was so excited. I know he will enjoy hunting with him next Winter. I received the papers in the mail, thank you so much.

Yvonne,

I wanted to first say thank you for all your time you devoted in helping me find the type of pup I was looking for. Your professional and friendly help made my experience with Bayou Labradors a joy to do business with! I had first pick female out of Chopper and Suzie's litter and with your knowledge of what I was looking for in a puppy, I was able to make my decision choosing my little girl Candy. From the moment I picked her up at the airport, I couldn't have been more pleased. She is almost twelve weeks old now and is already showing amazing signs of great breeding. She is fearless, has lots of spunk and is very athletic. Once again, my thanks to you Yvonne for your hard work and your great breeding program. I will keep you updated as to Candy's progress.

Hi Yvonne,

Wondering how you've been doing? I wanted to let you know how Candy has been doing. She was 1 on October 17, 2011 and is really turning in to a great bird dog. She loves to flush up pheasants and also likes retrieving ducks. Candy is a very intense retriever who is extremely athletic and focused. I am very happy with her and she is a joy to train!

Yvonne,
God it seems like forever since I have spoken with you!!! Just want to let you know Scout "AKA B3" is doing fantastic!!! He is such a pleasure to be with. I hate being away from him as much as he hates me being away when I'm at work. Just so you know he is getting so much love. He sleeps snuggled up with me in bed every night. His training is coming along so good and he is a pleasure to train.

Everyone ask me why I am not hunting him yet but they don't realize that he hasn't turned 6 months old yet. To many people rush into it and create bad habits cause they want to hunt them so bad without thinking of the big picture. He took a trip to Maine over Thanksgiving and got to play in some snow which he totally loves. Here is a picture of him sitting on the porch. One thing i want to tell you about him is when he is ready to go on his retrieves the intensity in his eyes is something to see. To me he is the Love of my Life and that "One" special dog you are suppose to get in your life. Me and my wife went to see the movie "Secretariat" about that special horse and we decided that "Scout" is our special one. Well I hope things have been good with you guys and you have a great Christmas and Happy New Years!!!

Hi Gary,
Thank you for this wonderful testimonial. Let me ask you something,
Is he everything I told you he would be?

Yvonne,

He is so much more!!! He is my best friend. We spend every moment together that we can. There can be 20 people in my house and if i go outside he sits by that door and waits!!! As far as his training goes he loves it. He is a fast learner which is just his desire to please which is one of the great traits I see from your blood line. He is great in the house as long as you keep an eye on him. He is still a pup and knows when your not looking its his time to get into mischief. The good thing is when he gets something he knows he shouldn't have he heads straight for his crate with it. (His safe Zone) Like I said about fast learner!!! He has yet to chew any furniture or anything in the house that he shouldn't. All I can say is thank you for breeding such wonderful dogs and passing them on to people like me to enjoy. You do the hard work and we reap the rewards!!!

Once again Thank You!!!

Hi Yvonne,

This is from Frank Ledoux. I had the first female pick out of Sonny and Miss Emily from the litter born on 5/31/10. Sorry I have not been in touch sooner. We named our pup Emmy. She has been just a great addition to our household. She is beautiful, smart and very strong/healthy. Lot's of desire. We placed her in retreiver training with Jay Dufour at Dufour Retreivers in Pine Grove on 11/1/10. She is doing great. Attached is a picture of Emmy and Jay taken in the last day or so. Jay said he knows you. He said Emmy has been a pleasure to train and is learning very fast and anxious to please.Just wanted to let you know we are so pleased and you were so fun to work with. Thank you so much.

Hi Yvonne,

I just wanted to send some recent pictures of Rylee (one of Chopper and Sissy's puppies) and let you know that she is doing Great! As of this week, she is a little over 5 months old. We have loved having her as a part of our family and couldn't have asked for a better dog. She's such beautiful animal with a really dark coat. Much like her parents, Rylee is an incredible animal with a true love and desire for retrieving. She is so smart and she retrieves with much drive and excitement. I cannot wait to see what great things will be in store as she continues to mature and work with Bo.

We are having so much fun raising her... It's a great experience!! I can't thank you enough for the advice and guidance that you gave us as we took steps in finding a puppy. We wish you all the best with future litters. These animals truly are special!

Sincerely,

Bo and Emily Murphy

Yvonne

This is a picture I took of Diva on the 1st on November 1. I wish I had taken the collar off but she wasn't supposed to be in the picture. She just decided that she was going to just jump up and sit down and pose so I let her. As you can see, she is a very well defined and conformed animal. My friends swear I have her on steroids when we really work every day. She is the most muscular female any of them have ever seen, and this is just a guess but she is between 75 and 85 pounds right now and that’s after I dropped her weight because of the really high heat we had this summer.

Diva has really been a great pet and has outstanding abilities that just come so naturally. She is a little hyper but far from uncontrollable. I wish I could do more with her but my work having laid me off for so long has really put a whoa in her training. It’s hard to believe she is almost two years old. I just wanted to say thanks and tell you that she is loved very much and part of our family. .......again thanks...

Yvonne,

Just wanted to share this picture of Roux. It was taken at 4 months. He is almost 5 months now. As you can tell, he is quite a handsome fella. We have completed puppy preschool and are now beginning our second obedience course. He does great. I get compliments all the time about how handsome and well behaved he is. Don't know what we did without him.

Hey Yvonne -

I am sending a picture of my awesome Bayou Labrador, Jazz (Jazzabel of the Bayou). Jazz is a beautiful, athletic dog and turns heads wherever we go (even at this gangly, seven month old stage). She LOVES the water and lives to retrieve! The BEST part of my day is coming home from school and taking the dogs for a swim at the pond. Jazz is all hustle and business when it come to retrieving but is more than happy to hop up on the couch to watch baseball with us when play time is over. I've loved her since you sent the first picture of my little brown roly-poly pup! I can't tell you how much the weekly pictures and updates meant as we waited for her homecoming!!

I can't say enough about our Bayou Labrador experience, from your great communication and all the great baby pictures, to the top quality lab that is now part of our family. You are the best!! Thanks so much!

Yvonne,

Thank you so much for giving us such a beautiful, smart puppy. Cabela has been a great college roommate so far. She loves people and other dogs. I've never had a lab puppy that would just snuggle up on someone to take a nap.

She's been an extremely fast learner, and loves to retrieve, especially on water. We can hardly keep her dry. Cabela was the runt of the litter, but has grown so fast. She's shaping up perfectly, lean, muscular, and athletic. Within the first few weeks I had her she could sit, lay down, come, stay, leave it, you name it. Now she's even opening and shutting the refrigerator! We're working on fetching drinks. I couldn't ask for a better choc lab.

Yvonne,

Cabela has been the best dog I've owned and I'd love to catch you up a bit:

Cabela has been a breeze to train and to have around at college. I've never had a young dog so obedient and eager to learn. She has amazing skill and determination when it comes to retrieving and will be going off for hunt training three months this summer so she'll be ready for next duck season. I get compliments all the time about how pretty and well mannered she is. She makes friends everywhere she goes, so thank you for such a loving dog.

Yvonne,

Cabela is doing great. She came back from 3 months of summer training and she couldn't be doing better. She was always very obedient and passionate about retrieving, but she's gotten even better. I have been taking her out dove hunting here near College Station and she loves it. She requires very little instruction and she can handle multiple marks coming from multiple shooters. It's amazing how well she does with so much chaos in dove hunting.

Mrs. Yvonne,

Thanks so much for our beautiful Cajun Copper. We are very happy with our puppy. As you can see from the photos he is growing fast and very comfortable with his new home. He fit right in at our house. Our older lab has even learn to love Copper. I was worried about that at first bring home a new puppy and another male. They are getting along just fine these days. Alyssa (our daughter) wanted me to tell you She loves her puppy and he is lots of fun.

We had a wonderful experience with Bayou Labradors. We enjoyed all the pictures of the puppies as they grew. We couldn't have asked for better.

Thanks again.

Hey Yvonne,

Here are some pictures of Cajun Copper. He is 7 months old now and weighs about 53 lbs. He is growing fast. He has been a very good dog. He gets along great with our older male lab. I am so glad they seem to be buddies now. He is learning. I admit my husband hasn't worked with him much but he seems to learn fast. He does obey well. I saw the picture of Sonny on the website and I think Copper looks just like him.

Hi Mrs. Yvonne,

I just wanted to let you know that Max is doing great! He's already whistle trained and retrieving in water at twelve weeks old! He is definitely going to make a great hunting companion! I want to thank you for being so courteous! I would definately recommend you to anyone looking for a well bred chocolate lab. I will keep you updated in the near future!

Hi Yvonne,

We decided to call him Roofus. He has been a really cool dog. He learned to sit in under a minute and then he learned to lay down. He is retrieving really well, even retrieving his tennis ball in the pool. It's going to be really exciting to see him retrieve his first duck. He sleeps all night and when he's ready to get up, early in the morning, he is FULL of energy. He's got a Blue Heeler puppy friend that can keep up with his high energy. Thanks, for breeding such great Labs.

Here's a pic of Buster, myself and Bailey, our other choc. lab, in front of our house in CO. He's a doll, but quite the play/fighter with Bailey. They go at it for hours. He now has two scars on his face and we're starting to call him Scarface! Bailey is gentle with him but Buster doesn't know when to stop sometimes.

He's been swimming in our pond and retrieving just like Bailey does. We didn't tell him, he just saw Bailey, and jumped right in and swam out to meet him. Then we held Bailey and threw an object into the water for Buster and he went right out after it! What a champ! He's 3 months old in this picture, Bailey's 8 years old, don't ask me how old I am! ha!

Yvonne,

This is my husband with our chocolate Lab, Buster Brown. He's currently taking field training in SC so Dick can hunt ducks, pheasants and upland birds with him when he retires in March.

Buster is a great dog, with loads of drive. He loves getting those birds, both in the water and in the field. It's hard to contain him once he knows he's out there to get one.

We've had so much fun with him and he's been a good family dog. He plays well with our older chocolate Labrador, Bailey and seems to take to Colorado life very well.

I get him back the end of April, we can't wait! It's been a long Spring without him.

Yvonne,

I thought you would like some pictures of Remi. She is such an awesome addition to our family. Thank you for all the phone calls, text messages, and pictures. It made the whole experience so wonderful. She is very playful...but she stills sleeps alot. She is either sleeping or full speed ahead. She is potty trained completely in only 2 weeks. She went swimming for the first time at lake ouachita in north arkansas, she loved the water. Thank you for everything. I will send you an update on her later. I attached some pics!

Hey Ms Yvonne,

Just wanted to send you some new pics of Remi. She is beautiful. Most of her puppy coat is gone and the vet said she should stay the really dark chocolate. We both love that she is so dark. She is a very busy and active dog. She of course is into everything. She loves digging and chewing like every good lab does! But she is very smart. She loves retrieving, she knows how to open all the doors to our house so she just lets herself in and out...which can be good and bad at times (ha ha), she also knows the names of her toys. I did send you one funny pic...she loves to fall asleep lying on her back and she will stick her feet all up in the air..its pretty funny to watch. She has been a great addition to our family and I have already recommended some people your way. Thank you for everything.

Dixie is doing great. She went to the vet today for her 12 week visit. She is 15.5 lbs. I don't know how that compares to her brothers or sisters. She is really so great. She eats well, sleeps well and she is such a joy in all our lives. I know everyone feels that their dog was meant for their family but we really do feel that Dixie was meant for our family.

I tell you I'm so in love with her! We all are! She loves when big Bo gets home and gets so excited to see him but she would still rather follow me around and sleep at my feet. She is definitely a "Momma's Girl". She is SO PRETTY!

Thank You Again!!

We just wanted to send some pictures of Hank from when he was a puppy until now. He is such a great dog and he is very, very energetic! We couldn't ask for a better dog, he passed his first hunt test at 5 months and couldn't get enough of it! His first hunt test he was losing his puppy teeth and he could barely pick up the birds, but he tried until he drug the bird that was bigger than him back to me! Thanks so much for such a great dog, and we can't wait to take him hunting next year!

Hi Yvonne,

I'm sorry I took so long to send pictures of "Bayou Chopper's Cajun Callie". The 1st picture is Callie at about 3 Months and 2nd she's 6 Months. I would recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone that is looking for a beautiful, healthy Lab.

Yvonne, Callie is very smart and strong willed. She was potty trained in in a very short time and she has no problem letting you know what she wants. I thought we would have a problem with our 11 year old Chocolate Lab but, in just a few weeks she was cleaning Callie's eyes and ears just like she was Callie's Mom.

Callie was retrieving at 3 Months old. She loves to swim and will put her whole head under a water faucet. My husband shot his shotgun by her and she has no fear. She is not even scared of the vacuum. Callie loves kids and other dogs. My only problem is keeping up with all her energy!! As you can see she is beautiful and a dark chocolate color. Callie is everything I wanted in a family pet and I'm sure she is going to love dove and duck hunting.

Thanks for everything,

Hi Yvonne,

Meet Mojo! He is a wonderful puppy and great with our kids. Mojo was a "present under the tree for Christmas" surprise for the kids and they are completely over the moon with him. He loves to play catch and trains very well. Thou, he seems a little scared of the dark sometimes, he is curious about everything and everyone. We want to give you a "HUGE" Thank you for the wonderful addition to our family and we will be sure to call Bayou Labrador's if we ever need another puppy.

P.S. He is also passionate about eating my daughters Flip-Flops!

Yvonne

We picked up Nessa in December, and it was just as every testimonial has described. Yvonne and Steve truly care about their dogs in a way unlike anyone else. She takes as much time as is necessary to help you throughout the selection process and will go out of her way to make sure that you have any question answered that will help you take great care of her puppies. Within a few days after picking up our puppy was already exhibiting benefits of her careful breeding. She was quickly able to be potty trained, crate trained, sit, stay and come. It truly amazed me how quickly she learns, and at almost 6 months old now she is still well ahead of the curve in terms of her training compared with other dogs. Yvonne's careful selection of dogs with desirable traits combined with her extensive knowledge and care while rearing the young pups results in labs that quickly become the admiration of anyone who meets one of Yvonne's dogs. I am extremely thankful for all of the updates and phone calls from Yvonne throughout the entire process. It can be a long wait to get one of her puppies, but it is well worth it. We never thought that we would want two dogs, but after such a great experience and after falling in love with such a great pup, we are considering getting another puppy. Yvonne, thank you again for all of your care and advice and for putting so much expertise and love into raising your dogs.

Dear Yvonne and Steve,

I just wanted to update you on one of your grand-puppies, Jules. He was B1 out of Chopper and Brandy's Litter, born 10-30-2009. We are so grateful for our handsome boy. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful our experience was and still is with you. Still today I can call you and you still give me your thoughts and knowledge. Jules is 7 months old today and he is flourishing by the minute. He is an intelligent, good-looking dog and we didn't expect anything else coming from Chopper and Brandy. He picks up on the simple things as well as the not so simple things we teach him so quickly we are amazed.

My husband has been working with Jules a lot the last couple of weeks and he is progressing wonderfully. He is already doing blind retrieves and doubles. He loves the water and we cannot keep him out of the pool. Jules is wonderful with our two children, who are 3 & 4 years old. They lay on him, pull his tail, run over his toes with the bikes and he remains calm as he can be. He has a great temperament and his personality is awesome.

We spoke to many breeders and once we spoke to you for just a few minutes, we knew you were the right person to purchase a puppy. You kept us so informed of everything, from Brandy's pregnancy to the weekly updates and pictures after the litter was born. We faithfully checked our emails waiting for the next pictures and updates. We were able to watch him grow even before we picked him up and brought him home to Slidell, La. Still today you send us pictures of his litter mates and keep us up to date with his Dad, Chopper and all his accomplishments.

Jules has brought a lot of happiness and laughs to our family and I am sure he has much more in store for us. We will definitely refer all our family and friends who are looking for a lab to you and Steve. Thanks again for everything you have done and given us. We appreciate it all and will stay in touch on all of Jules’ progress.

Thanks and talk to you soon.

Yvonne,

This is the latest picture of Bisquit along with my youngest son Matthew.
It was taken by Bisquit's trainer on Saturday February 13, 2010.
This is the first time I had seen Bisquit since December 8, 2009.
The trainer has been very impressed with him. He told me that Bisquit was doing very well with his training, and he absolutlly loves ducks.
When he lets Bisquit out of his pen, the first thing he does is go to where the trainer throws decoys and starts running around looking for them.

All of my family, wife included, has fallen in love with Bisquit. Not only is he going to be a great hunter, he will also be a great companion to my family.

Thanks for doing such a great job in breeding your dogs. The time and effort you put into the breeding process, really pays off in the animals you have.

Yvonne,

I can’t say enough about our precious TANK. He is adorable and we couldn’t ask for a better puppy. Tank was a Christmas surprise for my husband and kids and the best Christmas present we could have gotten. Tank loves running after the kids and had a ball in the recent snow. He is growing so fast, now 13 weeks old and a fast learner. I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer so he can go swimming in the lake with our female lab, Mocha, and all the kids. My husband is excited about this coming year’s duck season and has already started Tank retrieving ducks. Chopper and Brandy did good!!!
I will recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone looking for a fine chocolate lab.

Hello Yvonne,

I would like to say that we love Abbey. She is beautiful and is 10 months old now. She is doing great in training. After we got her we had some trouble in the family, my mom's Cancer had gotten worse and she passed away in October, Mom loved Abbey. I am including some pics of her so you can see. The only thing worrying me about her is her size. She is not growing. She is very small the trainer calls her a Pirogue Lab. I hope she will grow more in the new year to AKC standards.

Dear Yvonne,

Here are a few pictures of our loved one, Turbo and the wonderful conditions we hunt ducks in Michigan. He has brought much joy to us and is a perfect addition to our family.

His abilities have been incredible from the start, as such things as swimming at 9 weeks old on his own and in the hunting field at a little over 3 months.

He is a quick learner, and definitely could go far with a professional trainer. I will do my best to train him and I am sure what I am lacking in training will be filled in by Turbo.

I am grateful for having the opportunity to receive one of your puppies.

Yvonne,

Thanks so much for all of the care and work you and your husband Steve put into breeding. I knew long before we saw the pups that your program was outstanding. Our new boy, Louisiana's Cajun Kodiac "Cody", is doing fine and I've started on house training and kennel training.

His house training started the moment we got home when I took him out to his spot. Other than few accidents due mainly to bad timing on my part, he's done well. I also introduced him to the kennel his first day with the gate open and by the second night he became comfortable when tired and slept in it closed next to us for several hours. We took your advice and let Jadyn, out 5 year old, sleep next to him by the kennel. He's taking a nap in it right now as I write this.

We've had several friends over to visit and he is getting socialized to us and strangers very well, everybody loves him. I've even gotten him to sit for treats today using no verbal commands, just positive reinforcement of desired behavior. It's a little ahead of the curve on this, but what the heck, he's doing great.

Overall, I'd say you provided us with a very healthy pup that has a wonderful personality and has great hunting genes. I don't think I could have asked for more and I wouldn't hesitate one moment recommending you to anyone interested in a chocolate lab.

Hi Yvonne,

I just wanted to update you on Eddington's (B1's) progress. He's about 15 weeks old now and doing great. Our vet said that he's perfectly healthy and that he'll be a pretty big dog. He took very quickly to being house broken and he's great around the younger kids in my house and he's especially friendly towards people and dogs he doesn't know. Everyone comments on how beautiful a dog he is and I'm anxious to see how big and beautiful he's going to look when he gets older. Thanks again for answering all of our questions and be as helpful as you were.

Yvonne,

We are so pleased to have "Roxie Roux" as part of our family. At 15 weeks and 25 lbs, she is such an intelligent and fearless puppy. Roxie has a real zest for fun as she loves to retrieve, swim, and ride in the Kayaks with the family. She is incredibly social and loves to play, especially with her litter mate brother "Rouxfus". With all that being said, I am so amazed at how calm and independent she can be within our home.

Peter and I would agree that one of the best experiences with our Roxie was being able to visit her first home and get acquainted with both you and the puppies. Your knowledge of your dogs and the care you show was so evident. You were so genuinely interested in helping us choose the right dog and your early description of our Roxie's personality was so accurate. You are such an exceptional breeder and we are so appreciative for the wonderful experience.

We love checking your website for updates on all the puppies. We will send an updated picture of Roxie as she is growing so fast. She is adorable!!

Just wanting to give you an update on Bayou's Heart of Dixie (Dixie). She has been nothing but pure joy from the first time we held her. Larry is having the time of his life training her.

Dear Yvonne,

I want to thank you for breeding such a wonderful puppy and spending all of the time that you have answering my many questions! Since I live in the same town, it was such a nice experience to be able to stop by and visit with you and all of the puppies.

I had last pick of the females and after visiting a couple of times and seeing how beautiful and well socialized they all were, I knew that whatever puppy would eventually be ours she would be a great puppy. She has exceeded our expectations! She is very intelligent and well behaved as well as beautiful. We have a busy house with our two boys, but she has responded well to training. She has quickly learned all that we have asked of her.

Edda was a gift to my husband for his birthday and he has told me on more than one occasion that I could not have gotten him a better dog. She has bonded with all of us and is truly a part of our family. She quickly became best buddies with my five year old son and is a loving companion to all of us. We look forward to many years of good times with our family dog!

If you ever have anyone who would like to speak to someone about one of your dogs, you can give them my number as well!

Hi,

Edda is doing great! She is a big girl now but still has all of the puppy in her! We have been enjoying her. She is a good match for my 7 year old son who likes to roll all over her and she's always sweet to him. She's also very smart....it seems anything we want to teach her she will learn, but it's mostly just playing.

I hope that you are doing well! I attached a picture of her and the boys from Christmas!

Take Care,

Our experience with Yvonne was absolutely wonderful! She would call us just about every week to keep us apprised of the status of the mother of the pup we choose. She was very knowledgable and nice when we showed up with our children to pick our pup from the litter. She provided soft drinks which was above and beyond and answered all of our questions. When it came time to fill out the paperwork she had everything organized in an envelope and was methodical and maticulous in going through the paperwork to ensure that everything needed was present. She sent pics of the pups weekly from the time they were born until pickup day. We would recommend her to anyone interested in owning a chocolate pup!!

Hi Yvonne,

We finally have decided on the name Duke for our puppy. We took him to our vet for the puppy checkup. He got his second set of shots and de-worming. He weighed 16.5 lbs. His health is very good - heart, ears etc. He must be pretty smart as he got out of his wire playpen by himself not once but three times.

Over the years we have had six purebreds, a Chow, an Australian Cattle dog and several Swiss Mountain dogs. All of them were loving dogs but very high maintenance in every way possible. We have also talked to countless other breeders. You are the most organized and conscientious breeder we have had. Visiting you in New Orleans and seeing the puppies and the dams cared for in an organized, absolutely clean and loving environment was really an enjoyable experience. Duke's mom, Cher, behaved so nicely even with visitors around her puppies. We are very happy that we found you and your beautiful dogs on the website."

Duke is a lovely dog although he has a mind of his own. We realize that we need to work with him to keep him occupied and happy. He is feisty and adorable. When he is sitting quietly or lying down with his head up he is gorgeous.

All our best,

Yvonne, Yvonne, Yvonne,

I have no idea where to start... Lesley and I wanted to THANK you so very much for the joy that you have brought to our lives with Lilly! We had been on a search for the perfect breeder to get a female chocolate Labrador for almost a year, when I came across Bayou Labradors. After talking with you, I knew we had found the right place.

From our endless questions, to the day long visit (from Texas) to your kennel, you have always been helpful in whatever we needed. Whether it was a phone call or an email to update us throughout the process we were always informed on everything going on. We REALLY enjoyed receiving the pictures of the puppies as they grew and it gave us a great opportunity to share the experience with family and friends. We would highly recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone!!

I attached a few pictures of Lilly in the snow that we had in Houston the other day. We are taking her home to NC for Christmas to meet everyone. She starts her gundog training at Best Retrievers on January 10. We are excited for her to start, but it is going to be very hard to send her off for 4 months.

Hi Yvonne!

I hope all is well with you. Wanted to let you know we dropped Lilly off at Best Retrievers this past Saturday to start her training. Attached is a picture of us before we left. I will keep you posted on her progress. Talk to you soon!

Yvonne,

I hope you and Steve are doing well! I have attached a couple of pictures of Lilly (Roux & Cher 2009) with her AKC Junior Hunter title ribbon that you requested. I also attached a picture of her at a hunt test and her with all the ribbons she has earned so far (there is 1 ribbon missing in the picture). She has ran in 6 test (2) UKC (4) AKC and passed all 6. I handled her in every test. She is almost complete on hand signals and will be pursuing her Senior Hunter and Hunting Retriever titles this Fall.

Talk to you soon!

Dear Yvonne,

It was this time last year that I started thinking about getting a new lab. Several months earlier, we had put our 12 year old black lab "Cutter" down. I began searching for the next dog. I just couldn't do another black lab and started to think maybe a chocolate lab would be the ticket. Through the internet I discovered the famous Dakota Cajun "Roux". I loved his looks and his accomplishments. I showed my wife, MK, his picture and between the tears she said it looked just like Cutter. I then discovered you and Bayou Labradors and just couldn't believe how good looking all your dogs were. MK and I were lucky enough to get the first pick male of Cher and Roux's May 2009 breeding. The only problem was it was over 9 months away before our boy would show up. Yet during those long months is when I discovered how truly special a breeder you are. Yes you gave me names of people to call including Roux's owner Ronnie. But it was your caring attitude and your dedication to ALL your customers that really set you apart. I was ready for a dog and I could have gotten a Roux male from another breeding but my gut told me it wouldn't be the same. Through every email and phone conversation, I learned how important the puppy socialization process is and how dedicated you are to it. Every step you take is part of a plan to create a solid foundation for a loving and fearless lab. Your emails and pictures during the birth and over the ensuing 7-8 weeks bonded us all in ways few breeders attempt.

To say the journey was worth the wait is an understatement!!

Yvonne here is B2.....Cajun Roux's Red Dawn Rising aka "Rouxfus". From the moment we got him he was special. He learned sit in a matter of a couple days. He will come running from 25 yards away when MK or I say "Rouxfus - Here". He snuggles in under my feet while watching college football. This weekend at 8 weeks old, we took him to our beach house. He ran in the waves, dug in the sand and followed us everywhere we went. I am amazed at how he will wander around the yard and yet never leave. You call his name and the ears perk up and he comes charging. We throw bumpers in the hallway and his tail is just wagging as he brings it back.

Yvonne, you are a breeder who cares. One who takes pride in her pups. It truly shows. I can't tell you how many people have remarked about how good looking Rouxfus is. I also can't seem to stop being amazed at how things just don't bother Rouxfus. Loud noises like leaf blowers and mowers are no problem. Rouxfus is very confidant and that comes from great breeding and caring breeders.

We will continue to update you with pictures and emails on Rouxfus and his adventures and accomplishments.

Thank you so much!!!!!

A very special congratulations goes out to Cajun Roux's Red Dawn Rising "Rouxfus" and his owners Clint and MK Beaty, on a job well done. Thirteen month old Rouxfus earned his first two AKC Junior Hunter passes at the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club 2010 Fall Hunt Test at Montverde, Florida on September 18 & 19, 2010.

What makes these two passes beyond special is that Clint and MK bought Rouxfus as a pet. Clint did not have any experience training or handling a dog in the Hunt Test venue. One thing led to another when Clint recognized something special in Rouxfus. Clint started reading everything he got his hands on about training and watching training videos. As the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months, Clint was hooked and determined to get a title on Rouxfus. He is well on his way, with 2 passes under his belt. They need two more passes for Rouxfus' first title, Junior Hunter and this is only the beginning.

Rouxfus is the proud son of the famous GRHRCH UH Dakota's Cajun Roux MH.

Keep up the good work, Clint and Rouxfus, you make us proud!

Hello Yvonne

Rouxfus is now 18 months old and has progressed farther than I ever imagined. This past fall he ran UKC Hunt Tests and earned his SHR title (Started Hunting Retriever) passing 4 of 4 of the required test. Rouxfus also ran and passed 2 of the 4 legs needed for his AKC JH title (Junior Hunter).

Bottom line is he lives to retrieve and can never get enough. This spring we plan to finish his JH title and try for his upland title as well. He is almost completely through all
hand signal training and with a little luck should be completely ready to run for his AKC SH title (Seasoned Hunter) next fall.

Thank you for our wonderful “third child”. We love him!!!!

Congratulations to SHR Cajun Roux's Red Dawn Rising JH for a job well done!

Rouxfus earned his SHR title at the Northeast Florida Hunting Retriever Club at the Fall Hunt Test in St. Augustine, Florida on October 31, 2010. Rouxfus also earned his JH title at the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club Spring Hunt test in Montverde, Florida on February 13, 2011. In earning these 2 titles, Rouxfus was 8 for 8 in passing tests he ran.

Congratulations goes out to Rouxfus' owners, Clint and MK Beaty. Clint is also Rouxfus’s trainer and handler and above all his best friend. This is the first time Clint has trained and handled a dog and he is doing an excellent job.

Today Clint admitted that he and his wife, MK, are totally hooked on the Hunt Test game. Although Rouxfus is finished running hunt test for the Spring, they are looking forward to running Rouxfus for his UKC Hunting Retriever title and his AKC Senior Hunter title in the Fall. Good Luck Clint, MK and Rouxfus!

Rouxfus' dam is Bayou Segnette's Pretty Cher who was sired by the famous GRHRCH Gator Point's Magnum Gentle Ben MH. Rouxfus' sire is the phenomenal GRHRCH UH Dakota’s Cajun Roux MH.

Thank you Rouxfus, we are so proud of you.

Congratulations goes out to Clint Beaty, owner and handler, his wife MK and Rouxfus for passing 2 legs out of 4 required for his UKC Hunting Retriever title. Since he has credit for another pass by having his SHR title, he will need just one more pass to get his HR (Hunting Retriever) title. Keep up the good work, we are so proud of you!

Dear Yvonne,

I wanted to write you to tell you how thankful we are for our new puppy, Riley Roux. We call her, Riley. She is such a joy. Sonny and Lucy sure know how to breed a cutie!

Thank you for all of the wonderful information you shared with us from the moment we contacted you about wanting to get a Chocolate Lab. We appreciate all the pictures of Lucy while carrying the litter: then of course, all the pictures after the pups were born. Every few days there was an update with pictures. It made the weeks pass quicker as we awaited the time when we could pick up Riley from you.

It was great to be able to surprise by 17 year old son with the puppy. He did not have a clue...that made it even more fun!
Also, thank you for the information that you sent to us afterwards on tips for training, etc. We have been using that information as well as tips from the internet and a couple of books. She is such a quick learner. From 6 weeks of age when we picked her up from you to today at 10 weeks of age, she knows outside for the bathroom, sit, down, stay, eat, come, and follow. She is very smart! We plan to go to obedience school as soon as she finishes getting all of her shots.

Again, thank you for a wonderful experience! I've attached a few pictures of her growth over the past four weeks. We will keep you up to date on her progress.

Hello Yvonne,

Here are a couple of pics of Riley Roux. She is so sweet and such a joy. She is almost 9 months old and weighs over 65 pounds. She loves to run, swim, and retrieve. We have gone to dog obedience school when she was much younger. This has been great because we have taught her a lot of things. It is a lot of fun to play with her, and she is good listener.

Thank you for breeding such great dogs!

Truly,

Hi Yvonne -

Just wanted to let you know that our beautiful puppy has happily inserted herself into our family! The name "Lucy" seems to have stuck - and we sometimes call her Lucy Ann (kinda like Louisiana, her "home" state!). She is quite the little princess - and definitely a people lover; if we are in another room when she wakes up, she immediately starts whimpering for us! She is always by one of our our sides...it is really sweet! She is also quite playful and the kids adore her! With so many kids in and out of our house throughout the day, she is never lacking for some attention, that's for sure! Aside from normal puppy issues (chewing & housebreaking) - she is about as perfect as you can get!!

We were certainly lucky to have found you for a breeder. Our vet was impressed with her health certificate (including the hip certification on Cher) and when we spoke to her about the time you spent with us, she was even more impressed. Thank you so much for the continuous updates while Cher was pregnant, and the puppy pictures after they were born. It was such a treat to see them grow from the start, especially since we were in another state! It is obvious you love what you do, and love your dogs. Her pedigree is outstanding, and even though we won't be using her to field test or hunt, we know we have a beautiful & smart dog that our family will love for many years! Our friends laughed when they found out we were driving from Florida to Lousiana to get our new puppy...but it was certainly worth it - and we told them so! The kids (and us!) had so much fun playing with all the pups. It was hard to choose her - they were all adorable & sweet - but I know we made the right choice...we just love our Lucy!

Thank you again...we will send more updates and pictures soon...she is growing every day!

Hey Yvonne

Just looked at some pics you had on Facebook and thought it was time for a Lucy update (Roux & Cher litter 7-21-09 :)

It's hard to belive she is now 8 months old! She is a wonderful dog - not to mention beautiful. She weighs in at just over 50 lbs, so her size is just right as well. We get compliments on her all the time - her face and coat are just so stiking! Even though we don't use her to hunt, every now and then when we are outside, you can just see that instinct in her. She loves to visually track birds and always has her nose to the ground!

Most importantly to us - she loves people and loves her family....the joy in her manner is infectious! It's actually quite funny to watch her greet others, especially other dogs, because she has yet to meet one she doesn't like...as far as she is concerned, they should all be her best friend. Hope all is well! Thanks again for everything...

Yvonne-

I wanted to take a minute to say thanks and to update you on our new puppy, "Primeaux Cajun Roux". He is a little over 8 weeks old now and his intelligence is absolutely astounding. He is birdie as hell, will bring back anything you throw for him, and can mark out to about 10 yards now. It took less than two days to teach him sit, stay, and come by voice command. In 5 days, I had him sitting on one whistle blast instead of the voice command "sit".

We are now working on "come" by whistle instead of voice. He had only been with us for 4 days before I introduced him to gunfire by having my neighbor shoot a .22 blank at his house and gradually work his way over to my house while Roux was outside eating his chow. By the time he had finished eating, my neighbor was in my back yard shooting. The puppy never flinched or so much as raised his head. Your practice of raising your puppies underneath the TV with the Outdoor Channel playing has tremendous merit. He is just about housebroken, sleeps in his crate quietly 4-5 hours at a time, and stares into your eyes with confidence. All of this and he isn't even 9 weeks old yet. I know it sounds like I am bragging about our new hunting dog but I really think the credit belongs to you and your operation. Your dogs are special because you are a special "dog person". I was referred to Bayou Labradors by a serious duck hunting friend of mine who hunted over two of your young dogs last season. He had nothing but praise about the way they handled in the field and their calm disposition out of the field. I owe him a big thanks as he encouraged me to take a look at your website.

Thanks again for the constant photos, emails, and phone calls we received from you as our new puppy came into this world. You are a true professional and we sure appreciate everything you have done for us.

Yvonne-

Hi there. Thought I would give you an update on my puppy, Roux. He was 14 weeks old on Saturday and has shotguns shot over him while training for the past two weekends so I decided to take him out dove hunting on Sunday morning.

While at heel, we were walking to a stock tank on our farm when two white wings got up off the ground and lit in a tree 25 yards from us. Needing to make sure we got the retrieve opportunity, I shot one out of the tree and the other when it flew out of the tree. They landed about 15 yards apart. Roux stayed at heel for both shots and waited to be released which was awesome, but it gets better.....

When released he ran over to the furthest bird (which was the second one shot), picked it up, glanced at the closet bird on his way by it, and brought it back to hand. I made him sit at heel and face the other downed bird. When released, he brought the second bird (which was still alive and flapping both of its wings in his face) and brought it back for a hand delivery as well. I was absolutely stunned.

We spent the rest of the morning training with these two freshly killed doves. Duck season starts in two weeks here in Texas and he will be 16 weeks old on opening day. I can't believe it, but he will be ready to go to the blind for some simple retrieves.

Once again, thanks for everything you have done in helping us.

Yvonne-

Good morning. Thought I would update you on my puppy's progress. Roux was 17 weeks old in the attached pictures and has progressed so fast that I couldn't help but take him out in the boat with me this weekend. He retrieved a total of 6 ducks, including one double. He is still so young he can barely lift ducks once they are out of the water. Prior to the hunt, I had not worked with him from a boat but his drive made this an effortless transition. I shot a greenhead on Saturday morning and as soon as it hit the water, so did Roux....with no consideration as to how he was going to get back in it. When he swam up alongside the boat with his prize, I pulled him on board. He still had the duck in his mouth.

Now...I am no expert trainer by any means, just an average guy who likes to hunt. I am amazed that I was able to take a 4 month old puppy duck hunting out of a boat and that he performed like he did. The credit all goes to you and the dogs you breed, they are awesome! Great pets in the house and extremely driven in the field or water!

Thanks again for everything, you and your dogs are the best.

Hi Yvonne,

I thought you might like an update on my dog as it has been a year since I let you know about his progress.....

Primeaux Cajun “Roux” is now 18 months old and is one serious little duck dog. It has been a slow season for us here in north Texas because of the serious drought we have been in since mid summer and the ducks are hard to come by. In spite of this, Roux has retrieved 89 ducks so far and is doing outstanding. His latest trick is he now goes completely underwater to chase cripples and rarely do we lose one, even diver ducks. It is a hoot to see him disappear from the surface and pop up with a duck in his mouth. It makes me laugh every time! This is the stuff that you can’t teach and although his pedigree is very light on champions, all of the birdy instincts you picked up on when he was 3 weeks old and said would make him a good hunting dog have fully matured. You were right on...he is now a machine in the field.

Thanks again, he is a treat to hunt with and a wonderful pet in the house!

Yvonne,

Miley is doing great! She is already retrieving and sitting on command at only 7.5 weeks. You really do a fantastic job at Bayou Labradors. Miley was kennel trained when I got her! She only cried for a little bit the very first night we brought her home. She is a very smart dog and loves people and kids. She is a very sweet dog. Dogs I have purchased from other breeders just don't compare. I can't wait to get her on some ducks next year! I will keep you posted with some pictures in the near future. Once again thank you for all the updates you provided along the way and the pictures! The entire experience was great from the updates to all the paperwork you provided upon picking up my puppy. I had to wait a long time to finally get Miley but it was well worth the wait. Don't be surprised if I am calling you again within the next year or two to get on a list for another puppy. If you ever need a reference please feel free to pass my email information on. I would be happy to recommend your kennel to anyone!!

Take care and I'll stay in touch.

Mrs. Yvonne

What a great experience I had with Bayou Labradors. You made me feel completely comfortable and kept me up to date with plenty of pictures. Maddie has been a great addition to my life and I am so glad I chose Bayou Labradors. It has been one week since I picked her up and I will try to give you a brief run down on her accomplishments so far:

--picked her up last Saturday the 22nd
--that night she went in to the pond for a swim (on her own, I was not trying to get her in) and came out when I called her
--Monday was a clean vet check and started working on kennel training (she doesn't like it at all)
--Tuesday she was already sitting on command
--Wednesday she started working on the leash/lead
--Thursday was refresh/reminder day of sitting, leash and kennel training (still doesn't like being in there)
--Friday she was obeying commands on the leash and had no problems with it at all
--Saturday played on the 4-wheeler and introduced to different noises

I have had a wonderful time with Maddie and have not pressured her into doing anything. All of her learning has been about 10 minutes or so each time. I teach her at her pace right now since she does have a lot of play in her.

I will send more pictures later.

Thanks again Mrs. Yvonne and Bayou Labradors.

Yvonne,

What more can I say? We have truly fallen in love with "Dixie". She has such a great personality! She is growing so quickly. We have made the utility room "her room". She goes in there at bedtime, the door is closed and she does not make a peep until we open the door in the morning. She has also fallen in love with my daughter's Guinea Pigs. She sits by their cage and waits patiently for one to escape. She should be a great hunting dog! We have taught her to fetch and to sit! She is absolutely beautiful! From the moment I first spoke to you, I knew we were going to end up with a great dog! We were not planning on getting a puppy for another few months but when a friend of mine (who has gotten 2 puppies from you) sent me the email about the litter, we jumped on the opportunity. We were able to kept it a secret from the kids until we drove up in your driveway. They were so excited! We had a great time getting to know all of the dogs you have. It was so exciting to get all of the email updates and could not wait for the next one to arrive. You were so informative and always quick to respond. Your knowledge and love for the labs is very evident. We have had several people ask where we got her and have forwarded your website on to them.

Thank you so much for everything! I will continue to send pictures and updates!

Yvonne,

We have had Bleu for two weeks now; he is doing great and is spoiled. He is just about completely housebroken and is growing very fast. He weighed over 16 lbs at 9 weeks. Bleu is very active and gets into everything like a lab puppy should. Bleu loves to eat, dig, chew and retrieve. He is very intelligent and is taking to his training very well. Bleu is responding to his name, sit, stay and NO BLEU. He loves the water and Sherri's flower beds, we have a pool and it is hard to keep him out of it. Everyone that has seen him is very impressed with his looks and his drive at such a young age. Thanks again for all the emails, pictures and phone calls that kept me and my family updated on his progress. I was in a unique situation since Bleu was the only male from the Sonny & Emily litter. I knew from day one that B1 was my puppy and we all became very attached to Bleu before he ever made it home. I will keep you posted on his progress.

It was a pleasure working with you and it is very obvious how much you care about your dogs. If anyone is looking for a Chocolate Labrador puppy then Bayou Labradors is the place.

Hi Yvonne,

Here are a few pictures of Bayou's Bailey Belle. Bailey is a healthy happy puppy that is very intelligent. Training her has been fun as she is very attentive, picks up on things quickly and already knows sit and stay. She is eager to please, loves to retrieve and the only thing she gets more excited about is eating. Bailey is very personable and loves attention. She is also very spoiled. She is my first lab and so far is everything I was looking for. I am sure she will be a great friend and hunting companion for years to come. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done, from the first time we spoke on the phone, to the updates on Belle's progress and of course all of the pictures and updates after the puppies were born. I really appreciate all the time you and Steve took to talk with me and answer my questions. I also appreciate that you have called several times to check on her. She has made a smooth transition into her new home and I think a lot of that has to do with the extra care and attention that you put into your puppies. It is obvious that you really care about your dogs and I would not hesitate to recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone.

Hi Yvonne,

Olive is doing great. She is settling in well and quickly learning the ropes. She loves to play, eat and sleep. Her favorite toy is a stuffed bunny that she stalks and then attacks, its so funny to watch. She has also started chasing toys and bringing them back to us! She loves to play with Finn and very much enjoys sleeping under our ottoman. We love her so much, she was well worth the wait. Will keep you posted on all of her progress. Thank you for all of your photos and support and for letting us visit on Saturdays, we were always up to date on the puppies and believe me it was well

appreciated. Please send us Chopper

updates as he progresses on his titles.

Hope all is well with you. We went to Orange Beach last week and brought the dogs. Olive loved the beach and was digging in the sand, plus tried to eat some, but I guess it didn't taste very good, lol.

Hi Yvonne,

I have been meaning to send you a new photo of Olive so I took one with my phone. It's not the best quality but you can still see how cute she is. When she went to the vet for a checkup and shots last month she did great and acted like everyone was there to see her! She weighs 84 lbs and is perfect, she has been swimming quite a bit and is so well behaved. She and Finn, our Great Dane, are best friends :) Hope you are well.

Yvonne,

Tristan, Abby and I were so happy to get our puppy Sienna from you.  Your knowledge and love for your dogs convinced me we were getting our puppy from the right breeder.  I also talked to a friend that got a puppy from you, and he echoed my thoughts. She had her first vet visit with me on Tuesday, and everything went well. She did have yeast in her ears so she gave us some drops for that.  The Dr. said it was most likely from swimming.

I will keep in touch and let you know how she progresses.

Hey Ms. Yvonne,

As you can see, we had a first birthday party for Dixie (with cake, of course!)
She is such a wonderful addition to our family. We sent her to a trainer for a couple of months but couldn't stand to be without her, so we had to bring her home.  She's doing great and Matthew works with her daily so she'll be ready for duck season next year.

Yvonne,

This picture was taken on Saturday, May 23, 2009. This is Bailey (F4 - Chopper and Belle's litter March 2009). She had her 8 weeks shot today and she weighs 12 lbs. 3 oz. She is beautiful and is adjusting to her two new sisters (also chocolate labs) Gracie and Maggie. They have had their moments but I'm pleased at how well they are getting along. Our veterinary Dr. Jimmy Maxwell was quite impressed with Bailey and also her breeder. I gave him the package that you had given to us (pedigree, etc.) and he was impressed with the information you had provided us. Bailey is very intelligent and eager to please. She already knows the command "sit" and when she is ready to eat, she runs to the kitchen pantry and sits patiently until you feed her. Joe and I waited a very long time to get a puppy from Bayou Labradors and it was worth the wait.

Thanks again for all your help.

Yvonne,

I keep meaning to send another picture, but I can't get Lucas to stand still long enough to take one. He does so many comical things, and strikes so many handsome poses, but by the time I get the camera focused it is too late. He is already bigger than our female Sophie and is still growing. He looks very much like Roux.

Lucas has brought a lot of fun to our lives. He gets along terrific with Sophie but he is now larger than she, so I need to keep an eye out that he does not get too rough with her. He is quite a handful; I left him in the car for ONE minute while I went inside the Post Office to put something in the drop box--no waiting in line--just in and out. He put the window down with the electronic button and was out in parking lot!! So, he is under close watch.

Although my stories are about the trials and tribulations, we could not think of not having him in our family. He has such a sweet temperament. He is very affectionate and loves to be in physical contact when you are sitting or lying down. He is friendly to all dogs and all people (little and big). He has no thought that anything bad exists in the world and is completely trusting. Sometimes when I go into the garage Lucas will follow me--unbeknownst to me. A little while later we will miss him and in a panic Mike will say, "Where's Lucas?" And there he is--sitting quietly and patiently in the garage, in the dark, waiting for someone to open the door! We love him dearly. Thanks for such a great dog.

Thanks,

Dear Yvonne,

We want to thank you very much for our puppy, Ruby. As a veterinarian, I have had several experiences with breeders and I have to say by far you are the best! You are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. We were pleased with our experience from start to finish. I would recommend anyone looking for a top quality and healthy Chocolate Labrador to Yvonne and Bayou Labradors.

Ruby is sweet, beautiful, eager to swim and retrieve, and full of personality. I do have to say, however, she can be naughty at times but we love her! We look forward to breeding Ruby with your handsome boy Chopper in the future. Here are some pictures of Ruby.

MageeHey Mrs. Yvonne,

Sorry it's taken so long to update you on Belle but I wanted to send you a picture and tell you how GREAT of a puppy we have. She is growing so fast. She was house broke believe or not by the end of the first month we had her. She is retrieveing and of course getting into everything as though a puppy should. She knows her commands and listen very well though easily distracted, which we are working on. She started off very quickly exploring the pond and trying to catch minnows, now I can't keep her out of the pond. We've recently started going to our camp in Ticfaw and she is loving the river. She is so good with my daughter for such a young puppy and actually listens to Chloe when she gives her commands, WOW! She is very smart and quite the addition to our family since we lost Jasmine. Thanks so much for a blessed dog. We'll keep in touch.

Yvonne,

Nitreaux is a great puppy! He's very smart with an excellent disposition. He's already retrieving for us and loves to play with our 2 year-old Cocker Spaniel. Carson would check the e-mail every day for news about the litter. The vet raved about him when we took him for his check up. We even posted your contact information on their bulletin board for others searching for chocolate Labs. We would recommend anyone looking for a Lab puppy to check with Bayou Labradors before looking anywhere else. If we had larger kennel we would buy another puppy to keep Nitreaux company. Thanks for being so nice to our son. It was truly a wonderful experience getting our puppy from you. He's really a great addition to our family!

Hi Yvonne,

This is Ace from Sonny and Lucy's January 2009 litter. Ace has become a great addition to the family and is a joy to have around the house. This is my first male lab to own and I am surprised by his calm temperament, yet when I break out the bumper he gets all fired up ready to fetch. I have received several compliments about his looks and personality. It was a great experience working with you from the day the puppies were born until the day we brought him home. I was always well informed and knew without a doubt what I was getting, the weekly updated pictures were always exciting. I would say to anyone that if they want a well bred, good looking dog than look no further than Bayou Labradors.

Thanks,

Yvonne,

Here is a picture of Izzy and my friend's black lab. My friends love my Izzy girl that I got from you. She is so smart it is scary. You can show her something one time and she got it. I have some more pics that I will send you. She had a blast this year on her first hunts and picked up so many birds. She is awesome and I would not take any amount of money for her. She is just like one of my kids now. It is so cute the way she listens to my 3 year old son. All my friends laugh because he will call her over, tell her to heal and she gets by his side. He then will throw out the dummy and she is just shaking to go and he will say her name and she is gone like a rocket and then will bring it back to him in the heal position and give him the dummy. They cant get over the fact that she listens so well to everyone and not just to me. She is by far the best dog and the smartest I have ever had and I have had other labs and even Chesapeakes.

Thanks,

Dear Yvonne,

It's hard to find the words to express how happy we are with our experience with you and our new puppy "Dutch". After months of searching for the right breeder, we knew from the very first time speaking with you, that you were the one.You really seemed to care about your dogs and matching them with the right owners.

After meeting with you and we had a chance to see "Chopper" it has been non-stop excitement and anticipation. You kept us informed throughout the entire process. From picking out the sire and dam, updates on Coco's pregnancy, trainers, dog food, you name it! You always promptly returned our calls and emails and made us feel that we were important.

Our family looked foward to the pictures of the puppies that you would send us every few days. The usual morning "Whats for breakfast mom?" was replaced with "Did you get any new puppy pictures?" You truly made this a memorable "family" experience.

Our puppy "Dutch" has been amazing from day one. He sleeps all night, he was kennel and potty trained when we picked him up from you. He has learned to sit, come, stay. He loves the water and shows a huge interest in retrieving. "Dutch" will be going to a professional trainer at six months. We will keep you informed of his progress in the "Hunt Test" world. We only hope that he will do as well as 'Chopper" has done in his early years.

Thank you again, we will recommend Bayou Labradors to everyone.

Yvonne,

Just wanted to update you on Luke. He is 7 months old now, and just like a member of the family. Like my other kids, he loves to ride the 4-wheeler. He is already up to 60 pounds. The girls at the Vet. love him, he knows how to wow the ladies. He will go to be trained starting this month. The trainer did not want him he was 7months old.

Thanks for making this experience as wonderful as possible. It was a pleasure dealing with you and Bayou Labradors. You had me waiting for the next update while we were waiting for Luke. I have told a lot of people about you and the way you do business.

Once again thanks for everything.

Yvonne,

Words cannot express what "Haze" has brought back into our lives. After losing "Kane" in December it was definitely time for us to have another dog in our home. You couldn't have made the process any easier, from the initial meeting to actually picking up Haze. She has been such a joy and we can't wait to keep you posted on all her journeys in the future. Thanks again for such a great experience!!!!

Yvonne,

We want to thank you very much for our puppy Samson. He has been such a delight. Everyone commented on what a cute face he has. At his vet visit today he weighs 9 lbs. 15oz. All the nurses fell in love with him, the doctor commented on what great bone structure he has. He has been such a delight to our family. And we are very fortunate to have met such a wonderful breeder.

Hey Mrs. Yvonne,

Just wanted to say that we are very pleased with our puppy. I went back and forth on several names and none seemed to fit. My wife and I were looking at him one afternoon and we decided he definitely looked like a "SONNY" (hope you don't mind). He is and has been an EXTREMELY intelligent, obedient, and gentle puppy. I started training him pretty early with the Water Dog book and he's doing well. It's almost like he just knows what to do....good genetics I guess. I think he'll make a really good dog & hunting buddy. My 22 month old son, William, really likes him and is usually standing by the door when I get home in the afternoon waiting to go outside to feed him. I have had a lot of people (especially my Vet) tell me that Sonny is one of the best looking Chocolate Labs they've ever seen. So far, he's not been sick and seems to be healthy. I'll send you some recent pictures of him soon. If anyone wants a reference you can give them my email.

Thanks,

Dear Yvonne,

I can't say enough good things about you and my experience with Bayou Labradors. I've never experienced a puppy so smart, birdy, and well behaved at only 11 weeks. She's a retrieving machine after only two days. The vet was amazed how good she was for her first check up saying she was 1 in a 100 as far as lab puppies go. Thanks for everything! My family and I can't thank you enough for "Cajun Roux's Pretty Remi". We'll be sending pictures of her and all her ducks she brings in for me.

P.S. I'll be sending everyone I know your way for lab puppies.

Sincerely,

I can't begin to explain the happiness and satisfaction I have gotten from my experience and dealings with Yvonne. The amount of care and attention to detail she puts forth with each person and each pup amazes me. If I had to go back and play the waiting game all over again I would! In two days he was in the local bayou making double blind retrieves! Strong, Intelligent and Sound are the best three words to describe Yvonne's dogs. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Thanks again!

Dear Yvonne,

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us throughout the puppy process. From start to finish, we've appreciated your ongoing attentiveness, compassion, and dedication to the care of the pups and finding good homes for them. It is truly your c`g! We've been so impressed by your commitment, and thank you for always being there to answer our questions. I know your group of dogs and pups are special because of you and your loving and knowledgeable care.

We can't say enough about our new pup Sierra. We are amazed by her intelligence, and everyone comments on what a beauty she is. She's already a great swimmer, too. We are so looking forward to watching her grow up.

We'll definitely keep in touch. It's been great fun getting to know you and Bayou Labradors -- You run a very special organization, one that we would recommend to anyone. We feel very fortunate to have found you.

Hi Yvonne,

Fun to hear from you on Facebook. Sierra is doing great (besides the removal of the foxtail from her nose yesterday.) She definitely has a spirit for adventure! We love her to pieces.

I am attaching a recent photo of her at Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada. For fun I'm attaching a family photo too. We have a 9 week old baby and Sierra is loving our new family member. She is so protective and sweet with the baby.

Hope you're doing well too.

Hi Yvonne,

As you can see from the photo, our son and Sierra are best friends. She is the perfect companion for our family. Sierra was our "first baby," but since the day we brought him home from the hospital, she has adored him and welcomed him into her world with open arms. She follows him around the yard, guards him protectively when we're out and about, and literally kisses him good night before he goes to bed. She enjoys his company, too -- they spend their days playing fetch with the ball and stick, taking walks, and swimming in the pool. She is the world's sweetest, most loving, most gentle dog and we feel so blessed to have her in our family. Thank you!

Yvonne,

Thank you so much for your professionalism throughout the process. You have given us such a wonderful puppy who will undoubtedly make us a great hunting and field trail dog. You were very helpful throughout the whole process and always answered my questions. I highly recommend Bayou Labradors. We feel lucky to have one of Roux's great pups. You have been a pleasure to work with, giving us the exact puppy we wanted in temperament and personality. We have already recommended you to a friend looking for a chocolate lab and will recommend you again. The first day home with Roux, named after his dad, we had him doing simple retrieves in the yard. He is an excellent learner. He keeps all of us entertained while he learns new things everyday. I will send you pictures of him later and keep you up dated as he progresses in his training.

Hello Yvonne

This is the puppy out of Roux and Cher that I bought from you. At 3 1/2 months of age I ran him in Southern Flight Hunting Retriever started test on September 20 and 21, 2008 in Mississippi. He passed both days. There were three dogs in his flight ranging from 1-1/2 to 2 years old that didn't pass the test. The people there couldn't believe that at his young age performed like an older dog.

This weekend, October 25 and 26 I ran him in the Cajun Hunting Retriever hunt test. He passed the tests both days achieving his SHR (Started Hunting Retriever) title at the age of 5 months. Several of the trainers questioned his bloodline and one said "you've got a one-in-a-million dog".

I'm really enjoying this dog, he's so intelligent that he basically trains himself. I will keep you informed of his future progress.

Yvonne,

This is our daughter Cresson with Scout at 4 months old. She is the best dog we have ever owned! Every time we take her out to the park people comment on what a beautiful, well-mannered puppy she is. She has already mastered heel, sit and stay. She is so easy-going that she gets along well with our other two dogs, despite THEIR very different temperaments. My husband, Mark, is looking forward to taking her hunting this fall. I promise to be better about keeping in touch and will definitely send photos when she goes on her first hunt.

Yvonne,

We all enjoyed our visit with you today, the boys were amazed they didn't stop talking about you and all the pups. Bryce decided to name the puppy Sadie Belle after her mother Belle. She earned an "A" on her trip home. We had to stop in Kenner to let Bryce's nanny see our new addition.........she was amazed how beautiful she is! Sadie slept until we got into Eunice when she had to meet the rest of the humans in her life. Our golden, Cody, is so excited with her in the house also. She curled up next to him and fell fast asleep. Needless to say she is a big hit over here and we love her. Thank you for making our experience so easy and for making us a part of everything. Now it will be our turn to send updated pictures for you to see. Bryce was asking if we would ever talk to you again, I promised him we will make it a point to keep in touch. Some people sell animals for the money only, you are a special person that has her heart into her work.

Here are a few pictures of Max. He's working well, fetching and retrieving in the yard already. He is sitting and working on stay and never did poop in the house! Kona is one of the best things to come into my life. She is so much fun and full of energy all of the time. We have always had Labs but Kona is by far the smartest one we have ever had. When I first got her she was potty trained. She got along great with my other dogs. I even have a rabbit that runs the house and they were best friends from the start. I have received numerous compliments from people on how gorgeous she is and how well behaved she is. I always recommend Bayou Labradors, you were great from the start. The website was very helpful because I could look at the puppies from the time they were born up until when I got Kona. You were very helpful throughout the whole process and always answered my questions. I loved the fact that you wanted to know who was buying one of your babies and to make sure they went to a good home.

Yvonne -- Our new puppy "Kona" is awesome. Her fine breeding shows in her looks and smarts. It has been just over one week since we took her home. In that time she is already house trained, kennel trained, and can sit, come, stay. She will also retrieve already which is amazing. Her personality is perfect. She loves to play but when she is not playing, she is as calm as she can be. My kids can't get enough of her and she is already part of the family.

I want to thank you again for everything. You were great. We have been singing your praises. You are obviously top notch and it showed from the first time we spoke.

Yvonne,

Kona is doing great. She is a beautiful dog with a perfect temperment. Very calm around the house but a machine when it's time to retrieve. She is 10 months old and has picked up 40+ ducks in the first five hunts of the season. This includes several blinds well over 200 yards.

Yvonne,

We wanted to write to let you know how wonderful our lives have been with our new addition, Tully. Your weekly pictures and emails were so helpful as we waited for our puppy. Every week we grew more and more excited and couldn't wait to bring him home. Though flying him home was an option, the 10 hour drive from Florida was more than worth it to be able to bring Tully home with us. He was a perfect angel the whole trip back, sleeping often and never having an accident in the car.

It didn't take very long at all to housebreak him, which people still cannot believe. I attribute part of that to your early use of a kennel, which made the transition home into his kennel here relatively seamless. He knew early on how to signal us and let us know when he needed something. He learned sit and lay down commands very easily and is eager to learn more. Our vet complimented us on a beautiful pup and said that he believe the breeder did a great job in getting us a well bred, physically and emotionally sound puppy. We couldn't agree more. He is a lover of all humans and other dogs alike. He's a beautiful puppy who gets more and more handsome every day. We look forward to our lives with him.

Thank you so much for your professionalism throughout the process. You have given us such a wonderful puppy who will undoubtedly make us happy for a very long time. We have already recommended you to a family member looking for a chocolate lab and will recommend you again.

After writing this letter to you it seemed a little long but we just can't help bragging about you and our boy.

Hey Yvonne,

I just wanted to send you and email and say Happy 1st Birthday to Coco and Sonny's Puppies from 11/28/07!!! Tully is a handsome 1 year old. We had our friend come over with her nice camera and take some pics of our gorgeous boy. We figured we'd send you a few so you can see how well he's growing up and post an updated picture if you like. He makes us so happy and everyone at Thanksgiving said what a pleasure he was to be around :) He loves to play frisbee, to go on runs and to the park.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Let us know if you get any updated pics of any of his litter mates.

Talk to ya later ~ Crystal

I am beyond impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness of Yvonne Redell of Bayou Labradors. From the first time I contacted Yvonne about possibly obtaining a chocolate Labrador from her she was enthusiastic and very helpful. She kept me informed with updates of my pup's mother, Lucy Marie's, health even before my puppy was born. I received a congratulations phone call and pictures when my puppy was born. After that I received e-mails showing me what milestones my pup had reached (the swimming lessons were my favorite). Now about my Lab, Lillian The Brave. She is alert, intelligent, fearless, gentle, affectionate and beautiful. My vet was so impressed with her during our first visit she showered her with compliments. She said, "What an excellent coat she has and such a sound body for being so young (8 weeks)! Oh she is gorgeous. I'm amazed by how alert she is. She has such a calm temperament. She is a quality Labrador!" I was bursting with pride. We get the same reaction from everyone who meets Lilly. I can tell you that having her brings my family such happiness. Lilly is playful yet gentle and active yet very obedient. Yvonne Redell has made it possible for my family to have the right dog for us and made it a pleasant and smooth transition for us all. I would highly recommend Bayou Labradors to anyone looking for quality and beauty in a chocolate Labrador.

Things are going well with Sugar. She has been a great addition to our family. She is very smart, playful and has a great personality. It is easy to see that she has a very good genetic makeup. Sugar absolutely loves our 5yr old son Peyton, when ever she sees him the party is on. Sugar also love our 6 month old son Sawyer, she just licks his face as he laughs. When she is not playing with the kids, she can always be found by or in the pool. She loves to swim! We have started some light obedience with her and she already comprehends the commands sit & stay. Sugar also shows a strong interest in retrieving; I can not wait until she gets a little older. Yvonne was great to deal with and you can really see how much she cares for these puppies. The next time I or someone I know is looking for a top quality Chocolate Labrador; I will send them to Bayou Labradors and Yvonne.

Here is a picture of Sugar from November. She is currently at a trainer and is doing remarkably well. She has only been there 9 weeks and he is already introducing her to hand signals. I will be making my first hunt with her this weekend, I can not tell you how excited I am for that. My plan is to leave her with the trainer thru May and she willbe fully trained and ready for next hunting season. Of course we miss not having her at home, but we look forward to many great years with her at home and in the field. I will send you more pictures from our hunt this weekend next week.

Coco has a fun and loving personality and she fits perfectly in our lives. Yvonne was a great person to deal with because she truly cares for the puppies. Hey Yvonne,
Things are going well with Harley. He started with a pro trainer about 2 weeks ago. He was already doing well with obedience and retrieving before I took him there. I'm working very closely with the trainer, our plans are to start him in AKC and UKC hunt test in March. When the Grand Hunt Test was in Georgia in the fall, I drove down and met Ronnie, Connie, Bill Autrey and of course Roux. Here is a picture of Ronnie, Roux, Harley and myself. In the Spring when he gets his first ribbon, I will send you a picture.

Here are a few picks of Gunner at 8 months old. He is one of the best labs I have ever owned. He trained very easy compared to some that I have had. He picked up his first bird at 4 1/2 months old and just keeps getting better. He has also retrieved four doubles. To date he has retrieved 267 birds. AWESOME is all I can say for him at under a year old. Also Gunner gets complimented a lot about how pretty and well mannered he is. It was a pleasure doing business with you and will tell others about the quality of your dogs.

Thanks,

Beaux is a gorgeous and well-mannered lab puppy. We truly enjoy having him as part of our family. He is a great family pet as well as enthusiastic hunter. At four months of age he is already mastered obedience skills and is a quick learner. The best part about Beaux is that he is a joy to have in the house. He is so well behaved and not a day goes by he doesn't make us laugh. I credit Yvonne for putting so much time and effort into her pups, her dedication is why we have such a terrific dog now. We would not hesitate on purchasing another puppy from this outstanding breeder. She goes the extra mile to make sure the right puppy goes to the right family and in our case, she hit the nail on the head-Beaux is everything we were looking for in a puppy

So many times in life we make decisions and then wonder...."now why did I do that?" After spending a

week with my new lab puppy, Scarlett, I know exactly why! Because the love and tenderness that this beautiful animal brings to our house is joyously overwhelming. She is so smart and so sweet...one can only wonder how a pillar of beauty can exist in such troubled times. This is not only a testament to Scarlett but also to her breeder, Yvonne. I have never been inclined to purchase a dog until one day when a little chocolate puppy came into our lives. He was homeless. We took him in and named him Bruno. He was so wonderful that I immediately thought about getting a second. I started looking on the Internet and lucky for me, I found Yvonne. This would be my first experience actually picking out a pup and paying for it, so I was optimistically cautious. But after I first spoke to Yvonne on the phone I knew immediately that I was speaking to a woman that loves her animals far more than money. I knew there and then that I would be making the 5 hour trek over the weekend to pick up my pup. My daughters and I were greeted graciously. Having a clue about my inexperience with champion dogs, Yvonne spent a good part of her afternoon sharing stories and practical experience tips that helped greatly. She was very organized, detailed and thorough. She had uncommon patience with both me and my children. Scarlett is only 9 weeks old and practically house trained and kennel trained. She is a work of art! Already, truly a champion at her tender age. We will be life long buddies! If you are considering a chocolate lab pup...please do not hesitate to call Yvonne....you will never ask yourself..."now why did I do that?"

Hi Yvonne

I couldn't be happier with my two labs, Scarlett and Kit. Caught them napping in the the sun in the front window of my store...they heard the camera click and looked!! KIT (in the front) is now 8 months old and Scarlett (behind, with her head on KIT) is 2 1/2 years old. They are sisters, both Cher/Roux pups from different litters (7/15/06 and 5/22/08) They are such awesome wonderful gorgeous playful pets. Each has a very precious distinct personality. Kit is all puppy. Loves attention, loves to play and give lots of kisses. Scarlett is very polite, reserved and loves to snuggle. They are both great athletes. They love the deep snow of this New England Winter.I will send another picture soon of them in their winter wonderland. I am very happy with my perfect pups! Obviously one was so great, I had to get another. And I wouldn't buy from anyone other than Yvonne. She adores her dogs and it shows!

I was looking for a female Chocolate Labrador when a hunting friend recommended Bayou Labradors and Yvonne Redell. The first time I went to see the litter of puppies, I really didn't know which one I wanted because they were all so beautiful. I paid my deposit on the pick of the litter for a female. I kept noticing one male puppy that was exploring the yard by itself. I liked that he was independent of the others. Too bad it was a male because I was searching for a female. The second time I went to see the puppies I became more attached to the male and the male puppy became attached to me. I really wanted a female. I changed my mind and bought the male puppy and named him Cocoa. He has a beautiful, dark chocolate coat and a gorgeous head. He is very large for his age, he weighs 50 lbs at 4 months old. I can't believe that when I got him at 7 weeks old, he was already housebroken and kennel trained. He has a great disposition and is very smart and obedient.

I am disabled in a wheelchair and he will be my companion for many years to come. I was so excited about my male puppy, that went back to Bayou Labradors and bought a female from their next litter. I named her Momme Subella. I go to the St. Bernard Veterinary Clinic, they say that my 2 puppies are the highest quality Labradors they have seen in many years. Buying my puppies from Bayou Labradors is the best thing I ever did.

Yvonne is a highly qualified and experienced breeder of labs. We have been so pleased with our dog Riley. She is extremely healthy, happy, smart and loving to our kids, family and friends. She is energetic and funny to watch as well. She likes to swim in our pool, fetch her toys, and sit on our laps when prompted. She was very easy to train, because she is naturally smart. Do not hesitate to purchase lab puppies from Yvonne. She helped us with information about what Riley would need in her puppy months, and has called us from time to time just to check up on her!!! We've purchased AKC registered dogs in the past, but the breeders never took the time with us as Yvonne has. We are beyond satisfied.

Hi Yvonne,

This is the latest pics of our Riley. She made 3 years old on October 26th. Mary, our daughter and Riley's 11 year old owner is still very much in love with her since she the day she got her! She takes pictures of Riley a few times a week. Riley thinks she's Tyra Banks and loves being a "super model"! She is funny, playful, attentive, and extremely smart. We don't know what we did before getting her. She's our special girl!

Thanks for everything Yvonne!

I am so glad I bought this beautiful Chocolate Labrador. I was looking for a female lab with champion bloodline and I found her. Her name is Deja Marie and she is very spoiled. I would recommend if anyone is looking for a great Labrador look no further than Bayou Labradors.

These Chocolate Labs are the most beautiful lab pups I've ever seen. I've had the pleasure of owning and purchasing other dogs from breeders and this was a very enjoyable experience. I appreciated the patience with picking out the puppy. It took me two visits to decide which puppy to take home because there were so many quality pups to choose from. (I'm glad I got there early). A great breeder who puts a lot of effort in assuring that she has the best quality labs around. If Gracie grows up to be half the retriever that she is beautiful I think there will be another champion to add to the line."

I am very happy with Abby. When we got home, she got out of the truck and ran around exploring, then I took her back to the ditch we have that goes to the river and she bailed in w/o any second thoughts. I was amazed how she took to the water. I cant thank you enough, I still cant believe this is happening. The whole experience of getting this puppy has been great. You were very considerate, nice and helpful. The puppy is beautiful and I'm sure she will make a good hunting companion and friend. Thanks for everything and I will send you pictures. Thank you so much,

Mrs. Yvonne,

When I was watching Abby this morning bringing back ducks, I figured I needed to send you a Email just to give you a little update. Abby has hunted for about 45 days this year and probably 25 of them have been consecutively. She is doing outstanding. Nearly everybody I take hunting says something about her, either she really pretty or man she does a good job or something along that line. Every morning when I take her out the kennel she knows exactly whats happening she runs to the back of my truck and sits there and waits for me to open the tailgate. She stays pumped up everyday, she's picked up somewhere between 200 and 250 birds so far this year and in my opinion that is outstanding for a first season. I just want to let you know that I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to have her. She's been an excellent dog. If your ever over in my direction let me know so you can come drop by.

Thanks Again,
Josh Berg

Here are pictures of our boy Ryder. He has a calm disposition, is very independent - yet affectionate and is socializing well with our 3 1/2 year old female chocolate lab Odgie. He is very intelligent, already housebroken and eager to retrieve and swim. We highly recommend Bayou Labradors, the breeding is obviously excellent. We feel lucky to have one of Roux's great pups. Yvonne has been a pleasure to work with, giving us the exact puppy we wanted in temperament and personality which is priceless we live in Upstate New York and trusted Yvonne to find the right dog for our home and we are more than satisfied.

I have to tell you that my vet went on quite a bit about how beautiful he is and that he showed good breeding and they see a lot of dogs. Also some guy saw him and asked if he could breed him to his female Lab. I was like dude, he is only 10 weeks old, you have to be kidding. I don't think so.

He is a traffic stopper that's for sure. More of his personality is coming out and he is becoming really attached to me yet he is never afraid to be left alone. He is really special.

Hi Yvonne,

Well, we finally got around to sending you a picture of Maggie and the girls. She has quickly become a part of the family. Maggie is really growing in size and intelligence, and as of today as an 8 week old puppy, she weighs 15 lbs and 4 oz. She is highly intelligent and calm. Not only is she already housebroken, she is learning to master the sit and heel commands as well. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a high quality chocolate labrador to get in touch with Yvonne Redell at Bayou Labradors. Yvonne is a very knowledgeable breeder and is intent on keeping her clients happy with their purchase. Her dogs have the conformation and pedigrees necessary to become field trial champions, hunting retreivers, or just excellent companions. We hope to achieve all of the above with Maggie. We are very satisfied with our puppy, and we highly recommend Bayou Labradors.

Thanks,

Hi Yvonne,

I just thought you would like to see how your wonderful puppy is doing.  Maggie is 11&1/2 weeks old today and she weighs 27 pounds.  She is doing fantastic.  I think she would rather retrieve than eat.  She is doing simple double marks and  loves the water.  We are so proud of her & everyone who see's her thinks that she is beautiful.  She will also shake your hand if you like.  She is very intelligent.  She likes to ride the 4 wheeler also.  She keeps all of us entertained while she learns new things everyday.  I am sending you a few pictures of her that we took today.  Hope you enjoy them.

Yvonne,

Here's a picture of Maggie in the snow today. She is off of Sonny & Coco's litter 11/28/07.  She is doing excellent.  She weighs 80 pounds.  She lives to retrieve.  I am very satisfied with Maggie except for her barking early in the morning.  She drives us crazy until we turn her loose. Still, we wouldn't trade her for anything.  She is definitely part of the family.  Thanks for providing us with an exceptionally well bred labrador retreiver.

Yvonne, we couldn't be more delighted with our new puppy. His name is Ben, in honor of his grandfather. Ben is the forth Lab to be raised in our family. We are by no means Lab experts, but our experience has at least taught us what to look for, and this puppy is it. Im amazed at his intelligence and personality to say nothing of his good looks. I think the picture speaks for itself. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have a puppy from the Roux and Cher pairing. Our vet is very complimentary of the pup too.

We would also like to thank you, Yvonne, for your courtesy and professionalism as a breeder. The weekly photos and updates were very special to us. Thank you. We wouldn't hesitate for a second to offer our highest recommendation.

Sincerely,
Joey, DeDe, and Emma Key

Yvonne,

I really do not know which is the most AWESOME, the wonderful experience we had with YOU before she was born, the many many pictures and updates given to us before we got her OR could it possibly be receiving the most REGAL, BEAUTIFUL, SWEET puppy in the whole world named "GRACE".

Thank you so much for all of the above!

Congratulations to HRCH Sunnyhill's Sadie Sue for a job well done! Sadie achieved her HRCH title at the Southern Flight HRC in Grenada, Ms on September 21, 2008. Congratulations also goes to Sadie's owner and handler Betty Magee who took her through Started, Seasoned and Finished. Sadie is our second Cajun Roux and Cher offspring to earn their Hunting Retriever Championship title. Sadie was one of 13 puppies born July 15, 2006.

We are very pleased with Sadie, and she has met our expectations. She is very attentive and observant. These traits started early in her life. As we worked with her, she responded and based on that, she was ready to attend the UKC test hunts. She accomplished her SHR title in two weekends. The photo is of Sadie, her ribbons, and her UKC title. As I have stated, she is easy to train, eager to learn, and loving to all. When we talk to her, she will tilt her head and listen intently. With her abilities and loving nature, Sadie will have a great future.

Yvonne,

This is just to update you on Sadie. Wayne and I ran her in the Season Hunt Test in Pineville, La. She passed both tests. She received her HR title at the North La. Hunt Test. She has passed every test that she has entered thus far. She is a lovely and wonderful pet, but she is also all business when it comes to hunting and hunt test. We plan to enter Sadie in the Finished hunt tests this Fall. I have included photos of Sadie at the test site where she earned her HR title.
